Headhunters for nurses?

Nurses Career Support

does this exist? i know of people in the 'business world' who have used such services, to find a job that fits their needs and experience. i suppose i would be willing to pay the fee (depending on what it is) if they're going to do all the leg work. do any of the agencies do this, or are they strictly for experienced nurses for placement (ie, travel)?

the reason i am thinking this, is because i am hitting a road block in trying to find a new specialty. i am flexible, as far as where (specialty) i would work. but i feel like if i keep sending resumes to the same place for different units, they're going to think i'm confused :uhoh21: . and i don't know if a general objective or cover letter can quite describe what i am looking for. i'm getting very frustrated, as i have a lot of experience, and breaking into something new seems almost impossible (yet not so for new grads)

There are plenty of headhunters for nurses. They advertise in many of the major journals. An hour browsing in the library should give you a few names and phone numbers to call.

However ... they general focus on nurses in advanced roles, such as administratration, clinical specialists, and certain hard-to-fill nurse practitioner positions. Headhunters are paid by the employer filling the position: so, hospitals usually only use them for positions for which it is difficult to find qualified people. If you are looking for such a position and are willing to relocate, a headhunter might be just what you need.

If you are not flexible about location, a headhunter might not be what you need. You might benefit more from a professional career counselor or even a good mentor who could help you clarify your thinking about your career ... make some decisions about your future ... and market yourself.

Good luck,

NO need to pay for this. I posted my resume on Monster.com and have had more calls from headhunters than I care to count. With Monster.com, you will have no problem getting what you want or at least close to what you want. And, it is free!!

Thanks. I looked around there, but didn't respond to anything. Do they respond to regular staff positions, or just in higher level positions, as llg mentioned?
