Nurses Career Support

Published

Hi, I am a new grad RN and just got a job offer as a dialysis nurse.

I have wanted to work in nephrology unit as a staff nurse and enjoyed working with nephro-related patients.

I have applied as a nephrology staff nurse but haven't heard from anything from yet.

Things I really like about dialysis nurse is that I enjoyed working with kidney related patients, pay is great and perfect schedule.

But one thing I am really worried about is I feel like I am never be able to be a floor nurse since I am a new grad. I really haven't thought about being a dialysis nurse but I believe I will love it.

What do you think? Any dialysis nurse ever go back to floor nurse?

THank you all! :balloons:

Specializes in Med-Surg, ED, Home.

i have quite a few RN friends who started as floor nurses and are now managers and/or team leaders (charge nurses) in dialysis clinics...but going back as floor nurses? yes, i know 1 who started as floor nurse, trained and worked not that long in dialysis, now clinical manager in the med-surg floor, keeps dialysis as part time....how's that?...i hope this give you some ideas on what to do with your career...and you love the kidneys, so.....good luck!!!!
