maybe try networking... call some offices that specialize in those field & see if someone could take 5 mins to answer a few ?'s. But be sure to do some research, so you sound somewhat informed about what procedures are done or what they entail. If you're serious, most people are willing to speak w/ you, but you need to show initiative & genuine interest. good luck:)

From what I know, all you need is your RN license to perform those procedures. No additional certificates or licenses and it's only open to RNs and above. Lots of physicians would be willing to train you if that's what you want to do. You can also work for an esthetician, but the owner would have to have a contract with a physician or the physician would have to be present while you're performing the procedures. The RNs who do the work that you've mentioned previously make as much money as other RNs who work in large hospitals if not more, but you would have to find a physician who is willing to take the time to train you and may have to compete with other RNs who already have experience to get a job. There are always jobs advertising for those kind of RNs so good luck to you and hope this helps!

Oh and some physicians won't have you do botox, just lasers, peels and whatver else that's there to do

It is going to depend on the state that you are in. Some are quite restricted, expecially with the chemical peels as to who can do them.

Most doctors will do their own training for botox and laser. You need to contact some plastic surgeons in your area.................

In the meantime, you may want to get your aesthetician liscense (you don't need an RN) by attending a ruputable cosmotology school. Look up Jean Madeline http://www.jeanmadeline.com/jmi_programs.html (It's the esthiology program) to get an idea of what the program is even if you don't have this particular school nearby. I learned about this when my mother got cosmetic surgery. Her doctor's office provided her a voucher for a free facial peel at follow-up. They had an in-house aesthetician who did her facial peel. She was not a nurse. She had her own exam room with her machinery (i.e. microdermabrasion machine and others). Of course she had been doing it for years but she rented that exam room from the Physician (plastic surgeon) and set her own schedule. By doing the free facials for surgery patients, she built a client base.

I also recommend networking. If you can find the resources the get a service done (i.e. facial) at a place in your area that you feel is reputable and strike up some conversation with the people who work there. Find out where they went to school. I agree that the higher end procedures will require a Nursing/PA degree and on-the job training. Does anyone know where would be the best place to become an RN? I already have a BS in Organizational Leadership, w/ 1 year of nursing courses from Harbor City College. I am currently an esthetician and fell passionately in love with this field, but not sure where is best to become a nurse?
