College Network to get RN? Anyone done this or going through it?

Hello!

Has anyone heard of The College Network? They claim to be accredited, and have a home based self study RN program... has anyone here gone through them or is going through them? What do you think? Any other ones out there you'd recommend more? I have been on a waiting list to bridge to get my RN, and this seems to be a pretty cool option.

Not sure about this, but I think I remember reading somewhere that they are associated with RUE which is one of those outfits that sells you the books and then goes through Excelsior, which ultimately wastes your money.

I put myself on a list to receive information and a lady called me and wanted to send somebody to my house to do an "interview" (read: salescall, IMHO). When I told her that I merely wanted to know what the cost was, she said that she did not have the information but the person I met with would give me all the info I needed. Sounded a bit shady to me, like those for profit rip-off tech schools that used to come visit the high schools, wanted $15 grand for a one-year certificate, all so you could make a whopping $8 per hour. I don't trust any entity that can't answer a simple "How much" question.

OH, by the way, this lady has called me at least once a week since the initial call, despite me telling her that I really wasn't interested. I hate telemarketers.

Anybody else have dealings with this one?

Please do your homework and find out if your BON accepts the program. That would be your first step.

There are states that will not accept Excelsior; the ones I know of for sure are Illinois and Kansas...and Colorado just passed new legislation that says you have to have between 350 and 650 (I think) clinical hours for Excelsior to be accepted, DOE. I'm sure there are more states, but those are the ones I can think of off hand. I'm sure other distance-learning programs have the same restrictions in certain states.

AS we keep saying, make sure that you do your homework first. And if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

Go to the Distance Learning Board on this website. There are a lot of people doing distance RN.

College Network is a middleman and it's possible to cut them out and go to the school directly.

My spouse used College Network to get his Masters in Health Care Administration and it was a positive/expensive experience.
