best nursing specialty/area advice

Hi, I am a nursing student just trying to get some insight from already practicing nurses or NPs..

If I would like 1-3 patients, more one on one care/ time with each patient, using/ operating specialized equipment, I don't want to stand all day so a good combo of walking, sitting and standing.....something I could continue to do as I age and my knees & back get weaker, I do like some bursts of crazyness but not an entire shift, I can handle short stressful situations, I'm quick and thorough,

What would be the best nursing field for me? From what ive seen where I currently work in a LARGE hospital, the ICUs seem to really interest me.... I like being able to focus on 1-3 patients and working with life saving equipment....

There is a lot of turning (i.e. lifting) and stooping in the ICU. Not exactly back or knee friendly. Pretty much any hospital unit can get crazy for an entire shift. It's not like that every day in a well run unit, but the only places you're going to find those ratios are ICUs and some higher acuity PCUs (and perhaps PACU). Areas like ICU and PACU often require experience first. Ambulatory care might work, but again you usually need experience.

Edited to add: you should perhaps look into OR.

Ive never thought about the o.R.... I wonder what type of shifts they work 8,10,12s... what exactly does the O.R nurse do, what's the pt. Load

What about CRNA

I can do crazyness fast paced... i just meant I don't want to have that every single day, I think you would burn out quickly

I don't know much about OR nursing loads - as I have never worked in the OR - but this forum has plenty of specialty sections.

CRNA requires ICU experience.
