Applying for first RN job... When to follow up with a phone call..?

Hello,

I have just graduated nursing school & am planning to take my NCLEX this month. I also will be moving out of state next month--from South Carolina to Texas. This is what is making things hard. If I were able to stay in SC, I would already have a job at the hospital I currently work as a tech at. With me moving to Texas with no experience, I am worried about actually getting hired. I am putting in a few applications today, and I was wondering when I should call the hospital for a follow up, and what should I say. Thank you for any advice!

depending on the hospital some let you check your application status online. otherwise I would probably wait a week or two to call and check the status. also your experience as a tech should help you in your Job Search in texas, even though it was in a different state. good luck!

Send a card ASAP after interview. I've always been told that managers are impressed when you do that

Awesome, thanks!

I find one week is adequate to wait before calling. It also lets the employer know you are still interested in the position. Good luck!
