How acceptable are odd hairstyles?

Nurses Professionalism

I'm on my way to get to getting my associates in pre-nursing at the local community college here (I'm also still in high school) and I have an undercut and I really love it, can I maintain it or do I need to grow it out and cover it as much as possible? I don't have facial tattoos or gauges or anything crazy besides that (nor do I want to) how acceptable would that be?

It really depends on the program and how easily you are able to hide it. My program can be pretty strict about things like that. My advice is to see if you can get a copy of the handbook; it should cover that kind of thing in there.

They tend to be stricter about facial hair, unnatural hair colors, and hair in your face. From the pics I saw of googling it, I don't think it'd be an issue as long as it wasn't in your face. But your school will let you know and specify in the handbook.

It's easily hidden by any means, I have a natural middle part and when I put my hair in a low bun with the part you can barely see the shaved section.

I have a conservative manager at my workplace who dislikes unusual hairstyles and has targeted nurses with 'odd' hairstyles. However, you should be fine if you can easily hide your undercut. Good luck to you!

It's hair. Grow it until you get a job. Then cut it.

My school was strict about it. Tattoos had to be covered and hair had to be a natural color. However, my job is accepting of tattoos and funky hair. Love it!
