Dear Nurse Beth,

Are there any jobs that will allow me to travel (in or out of the states) as a new grad? I graduate in April with my BSN and would love to find a job that would allow me to travel and maybe help with housing?

I am an EMT and love emergency medicine if that is a possibility?

Thank you in advance for the help!

Dear Wants to Travel,

Congrats on your upcoming graduation! It is not advised to

travel until you have 1-2 years experience.

Travel companies that hire new grads to travel are not reputable.

Do yourself a favor, find a nurse residency for your first year,

and gain some experience.

After 1-2 years, you will be a desirable commodity and will

not have trouble finding a traveling job. Having experience as an EMT is a great resume builder.

Best wishes,

Nurse Beth

I second what Nurse Beth said. No reputable travel company, nor any hospital, will allow you to travel as a new grad. Especially not in Emergency Medicine. Wait for a year, learn all you can, get good references, and apply when you feel confident in your nursing skills.

PS. I started traveling after 1 year so it can be done. Best of luck to you!

Writer..Any job that pays you will allow you to buy any plane ticket to travel as a new grad....just messing with you.

I recently saw a post for a travel ER RN job in California Inland Empire that accepted New Grads. I can't find the post on FB but, they are out there. One will assume the new grad is staying more than 13 weeks or doing just task without actual assessments or med passing. Most of the travel jobs for new grads will be tele and psych.
