What to do when a Live-in Nurse steals?

My Uncle's live in nurse from Guatemala recently stole all of the contents of my Uncle's home in Houston, TX. He had passed away last July and we allowed her to stay in the house until it was time to sell. We have found that the police department won't press criminal charges because she had authority to live in the house. They have said we will have to file civil charges. I know we'll never get the stuff back because I'm sure it's sold by now but I would love to post her name somewhere so that anyone doing a search on her would see what she's been accused of and would re-think hiring her. We also believe she had been stealing his medications for years. I would love to know if there's a blog for thieving nurses, and how to get her name out there so she doesn't do this again. We believe she did this to her former patient that she cared for over 8 years because the family booted her out the day the patient died. We knew of this story so we went above and beyond to make sure she had a home to stay in until she could find another live-in situation. We also paid her for 4 months while she lived there for free.

Is this a licensed nurse or someone you call "nurse"? Live in nurses are not common but live in home health aides/caregivers are more common. You can file a complaint with the board of nursing if this was a licensed nurse or certified home health aide. Did you hire through an agency that does background checks?

You cannot slander her name on a public website without proof or conviction in a court of law. You will likely get in trouble for libelous accusations.

If you did not see a valid US license to practice in the US she isn't a real nurse and might be just calling herself one....when actuality she is just an unlicensed care giver. If she has an actual license report her to the Board of Nursing.

If you are going to seek restitution I would not be posting this on a public social media site.
