The American Nurses Credentialing Center is pleased to announce the launch of its new Web site on August 14, 2003.

The new site is designed to be more informative, more user-friendly, and more visually appealing. In addition, a new navigation scheme should make it easier for users to move through the site and find what they're looking for. The site contains complete information on ANCC's five program areas: certification and recertification of nurses; the Magnet Recognition Program; accreditation of providers and approvers of continuing education; the Institute for Research, Education, and Consultation; and Credentialing International. Among the new features of the site is the inclusion of the content from the candidate handbooks for nurse practitioner exams. Components of this include online sample exams that allow nurses to preview what they can expect when they sit for the exam. After taking the online test, the score is immediately returned to the nurse, with incorrect answers indicated. ANCC staff is working on transferring the content from all of the candidate exam handbooks to the Web site, which will be accomplished in stages. Future plans for the ANCC Web site include the addition of functionality that will allow certification and recertification candidates to apply online, as well as online application capability for those health care facilities interested in Magnet recognition.
