Why is the board of nursing taking so long???

Hi, has anyone waited close to a year before their case was reviewed and decided on by the board of nursing?

I self reported back in Feb , and my case hasn't come up yet, I've talked to the investigator every month or 2 , it just seems like it's taking forever.

Im thankful my RN license is still active , I'm working at a dialysis center and I really like it

15 months and likely wouldve been longer but I pressured my investigator. I actually sent documents she wouldve had to request to expedite things.

So how did your case turn out?

3 years from the time I was convicted of my dui to reaching a decision with the board. At the very least I had time to settle all my dui fees and grow up a little before the BON came knocking

Wow, thank u for responding.. Guess I need to be more patient. My license is active right now and I'm working in dialysis.. praying I get only restriction on my license and not suspension..

I did self report so maybe that will help.

In the last year I completed a 10 week intensive outpatient program.. What I'm afraid of is the fact that I didn't complete inpatient .

Are u on restriction or probation with the board of nursing?

im wondering how probation works

They ordered me to complete program I was already in.

Hopefully I won't have to repeat inpatient.. I've been sober for a year now : 12-1 was my 1 year date.

Maybe the outpatient I completed will count

Honestly, if it ends up being over a year from the time you completed treatment, you'll probably have to redo it, at least that's the rule in California, and the minimum period is 6 months of treatment, either outpatient or inpatient.

The only exception is if the MD says you don't need it during your psych and physical eval. For example, my offense was a single dui I got when 22, nothing before or after, no history of alcohol abuse in my family and never had any trouble at work. Based on this, the MD I went to determined I didn't Meet the criteria for alcohol dependence so I wouldn't benefit from treatment so I was able to get out of it. If your offense has to do with diversion from work though I think treatment is almost always required.

Hopefully it's different here in MS.. I've heard that here in MS they go by an assessment from an approved treatment center , if that's the case then I should be ok.. thanks , hope you are doing well.

AZ took 2yrs and 4mos to decide my fate. There no statute of limitations with the boards of Nursing and definitely no addicTion there. Good luck

It took them a full year to review my case. Then they emailed me a consent agreement and gave me2 days to review it and have it back to them!

Wow, seeing where it's taking at least a year. If you dont mind me asking , how did yours turn out? I know every case is different . Plus I can see where it varies from state to state.
