RN support group

Nurses Recovery

Published

I am trying to compare costs for RN support groups where attendance is mandated by a monitoring/recovery/substance abuse program from your state BON. What does it cost you and where are you located?

Thanks in advance

BTW mine is $25/weekly and that is an ubsurd amount of money to listen to how other people's weeks went, and why should the facilitator make that much from 8-10 people? The service she offers is in no way shape or form worth $200-250/hr

I go to the only 2 that exists in Illinois. They are free here. There is no counselor or anything. One of them has a nurse practitioner volunteer part of the year when she's in town but she is just volunteering and there is no fee or donation or anything. Our nurse meetings in IL are totally optional. You typically have to go to 2 meetings a week but it can be any meeting.

Yeah mines $25 a week to hear a bunch of yammering stories about a big pile of nothing. I can't wait to be done with it. I would gladly give them twice the money if I didn't have to go

I'm in Indiana and mine are free. I'm required to attend 12 NA and/or nurse support groups a month.

and I can't believe they charge for a support group in some states!!! ridiculous!

$40/month or $10/week if you have trouble letting go of the $40 all at once at the beginning of the month. I live in Florida and I think that's a pretty standard amount, at least for central Florida/North Florida.

Well...lets see...our insurance companies (who actually dictates and controls "health" care) in this country continue to profit off of others misery...this model is simply ingrained in the psyche of all who participate...most would agree we actually practice "sick" care in this country...purely reactive vs. any semblance of proactivity. So why then are any of us surprised? A youngster I was in nursing school once proclaimed such shock when they realized our "health" insurance companies and associated entities are actually in the business if keeping us ill. Big money in misery...yippie

Mine in Texas is free.

Mine's $50 a month but what I find curious is that it's still $50 even if a week gets canceled due to holiday or moderator sick or out of town or what ever. Shoot I don't get paid if I don't come to work soooo....

I have to go to these god awful gabfests for two years. How long do you guys have to go?

In TPAPN they are not required. We are required to do 4 AA/NA meetings a week, but we can substitute a nurse support group meeting for one of those if we want to. It's totally voluntary for us, just a way to get out of one of the AA meetings.
