Hello everyone!

Ive been recently reading your posts and your courage and strength is amazing. I've been waiting 6 months to hear from the OBN about what actions they will impose against me for diversion but the unknown about my future is a huge struggle. I'm in treatment now and going to meetings now but I was found ineligible for the alternative program without any reason why! Are my dreams shattered because of my mistakes? Can I still be an NP? Should I go back to school now to get my BSN? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I cant answer most of that for you. I can tell you from experience that you can nt be enrolled in a BSN program without an active RN license. For me not knowing has always been (and continues to be) the worst part. Im in Kentucky and recently looked into licensure in OH. They seem to be much stricter on their policies then other states. Now how that works if you are already a licensed nurse in that state i dont know. All you can do is continue to make the right choices. I came to a point in my experience whre i decided that if i never went back to nursing i would and could be okay with that. Since then ive completed 1 year of a 5 yar probation and had my suspension lifted. If your making the right choices the other things will come in time.

You are correct that Ohio is one of the toughest States there is regarding this issue. In other States if your license is revoked you can apply after a period of time to get them back. Not the case in Ohio....a revocation is permanent.

Wow, I finally found a state that is worse than mine, Nebraska. I understand that one can apply for reinstatement two years after revocation here. Of course, that doesn't guarantee the BON will agree, but that's another ball of wax.

I am an Ohio RN and have had my license suspended for 2 years d/t diversion and am waiting to hear back from the OBN regarding my drug testing and meeting slip requirements. I sent my paperwork in about a month ago. I entered treatment Oct 2013 and surrendered my license. I heard back from them fairly quickly. I was done with the board hearing by July. That seems to be quicker than I've heard from several other nurses. I hope you hear from them soon!! I know that wait is what drives you insane. I am constantly at my mailbox every time I hear the mailman. I just want to move forward.

Does anyone know that if I am to complete a year before I can get my license reinstated is that my "contract" or is that another thing to complete outside of the reinstatement? This has me all confused!

No kidding the wait is driving me insane! I'm hanging in there but it's tough! I just want to move forward as well. That does sound pretty quick cause I've heard most nurses wait almost a year if you don't get into the alternative program. As far as the contract thing goes I'm not exactly sure what that is cause I haven't gotten that far yet. But I would to share info and thoughts if you wouldn't mind emailing me? I have so many questions about the board hearing and what to expect! Thanks!

I'm still here. I am scheduled for my face to face next week and am really excited but at the same time nervous as can be because I don't know what to expect. Anyone have any advice?

Ohio BON is really slow. I got a letter 2 years ago and I just got a another notice for opportunity/action pending by certified mail. I'm not going to respond and could care less. Nursing isn't for me and the pay isn't that great. I'm making double my nursing salary driving a brown truck for the past 2 years. I have been two years clean but I'm not going to do a program for 5 years and worry about applying shampoo or lotion with alcohol in it. A little overboard in my opinion. If I was a NP then maybe I would do more to save my license.
