HELP!! LVN with stipulations needs help finding a job.....

Nurses Recovery

Published

I am an LVN with stipulations and I am having no luck in finding a job, I am not an addict nor am I an alcoholic, I was in a bad situation at that time in my life and had an ex bf that was an alcoholic and a user and well I am in this situation because of my stupidity and kind heartedness I have not seen or heard from him since then but the past is still haunting me due to me being on these stipulations because of him, I am not just blaming him I also know it is my fault for being so vulnerable and stupid...... I have moved on and now have a bf of 3 years who is also a nurse and is very loving and supporting.

I have been looking for a job now for several months in SA and the surrounding areas and have had no luck at all, it seems as soon as I disclose that I have stipulations they cut me off right there, no questions asked about the stipulations just interview over......I am currently receiving government assistance because I am unable to provide for my children due to this horrible situation I am in......:( Please if anyone knows of any employers who are willing to hire an LVN w/ stips let me know.

sorry, i thought i replied to you this morning.......

you have stipulations because of a boyfriend? what did you do? that required stipulations ? used got caught , got arrested because of your ex boyfriend's actions.......Generally the board does not displine a nurses action, unless the nurse has violated the NPA. The nurses i hire with stipulations, appear to be working strong programs, own their mistakes, and learned from them . i wish you the best of luck.

Hi sallyrnrrt-

I am thinking maybe I shouldn't offer my .02 here...BUT...my suspicion is that the OP (AnxiousSally) diverted narcotics for her ex-boyfriend in a misguided attempt to be "kind hearted" by supplying him with drugs.

:(

Catmom :paw:

Here is my story......the night before all this happened I had been up most of the night looking for my daughter who had ran away, cops were at my house and everything trying to find her, we finally found her and she was home safe, TG! So that morning I was running late for work I called the DON and told her what had happened the night before and told her I was running late, so as I was leaving for work my ex bf was standing by my vehicle and he asked if he could sleep at my house cause he had not slept for days ( he is an alcoholic and a user) I of course said yes he could but he better not have anything on him cause I dont want drugs in the house so he emptied his pockets out and gave me what he had (bag of cocaine and some change) I was in a hurry and just automatically put it in my scrub pocket out of force of habit and forgot about it as I was already running late for work I was focused on getting to work and totally forgot about it, so as my day went on the bag fell out of my pocket some time during the day I was then taking to office and fired because of that I did admit to having it on me and told the DON what had happened , how and why I had possession of it.....so I am not just blaming him as I said in my post it was my stupidity for not disposing of it and my kind heartedness for letting him sleep and rest since he had not slept in days and had no where to go I could not leave him out in the streets, so please don't judge me before hearing my situation........I am not on stipulations for using drugs or taking drugs. To be judged without knowing the situation is very hurtful.... thank you for listening

That sounds unfortunate. I can say I can relate. I hope the best for you and just want to assure you that there are directors out there who are understanding. Be upfront and they will appreciate the honesty. Let us know how everything goes.

So excuse me for saying I'm on stipulations because of him, that came out wrong, I know I am on stipulations because of my actions....there is alot of things I wish I could change about that morning......but I cant, so now I am dealing with this the best way I can, its just really sad that my actions and my mistakes are affecting my children and my livelihood, I have a senior in high school, who is working her tail off everyday because Mom cant find a job to help her get what she needs....... I just feel horrible about that :sorry: @ sallyrnrrt if you would please consider meeting me and talking to me and possibly consider hiring me you will not be let down, I am very down to earth, a hard worker and fast learner, I work well with others, team work is very important and the residents are priority.....I was a CNA and Medication Aide before becoming an LVN so I do have years of experience in LTC.....please let me know...thank you!

atta girl, that is what i was trying to get you to say.........please take my advice and expkain it to the DONs you interview with, my advice IS LTCs, especially if you apply for MDS nurse...... you can download at texas DADSsite, and CMS site mds assessment methods line by line how to ans. the mds assessments.....there are some great webinars out there on mds........going for a mds job will place you in a high demand admin. position.... nursing homes get paid totally by the mds assessment, you will neve have to administer any medications and there will always be at least one RN in the building.....hrs flexible to go do a uds when your number is up usually day time hrs without weekends, usually paid a lot more than regular charge nurses, have I got you optimistic yet :sarcastic:
