Fl IPN NonClinical work Who hires for this?

Nurses Recovery

Published

I recently signed a 5 year contract with the IPN after debating for 2 weeks if I even wanted to fight this battle with them any longer. I decided sink or swim and Im swimming....but barely. My contract states I can return to "non clinical nursing practice" however the IPN states that no patient contact, no patient decision making and it cannot require that I have my RN license. That last part is what gets me. I understand the rest but what is a nonclinical nursing position that doesnt require you to have a license? Does it even exist? I have chronic pain and Im totally ok working nonclinical work....for now. What do I do? Im on the verge of filing bankruptcy. I need work. I cant even get hired working in a call center because of my work history as a nurse. Noone trusts that I would stay with their company since it isnt nursing. Please help!!

Thank you

I would call your case worker and speak with them. I have not met anyone with this being in their IPN contract. But that doesn't mean it couldn't happen.

As you, I am also confused by the wordage. If you work in a position as a nurse you need your license. So is IPN basically telling you that you can not work as a nurse until further notice?

The contract itself states "you may begin work in a nonclinical nursing position" but the intake coordinator stated that per IPN policy this means no patient contact, no patient decision making and it has to be a position that does not require my nursing license. If I find a position that does. Say something like RAC audit or quality control then they will assign a meeting with the "powers that be of IPN" to decide if I will be allowed to work said position. I can be reevaluated to be cleared for clinical but I don't have $800 extra dollars to do that yet. I also cannot work for a staffing agency and the other usual no hospice, no home care, no drug treatment facilities etc.

i'm in a similar situation as you, Jiffymama. I just signed a 5 year with IPN. although I've been cleared to work as a nurse and I don't have a narcotic key restriction. my offenses were off duty. I have multiple arrests for dui's and pot possession. no felonies. anyway, I've been working in a call center. why can't you do that? have you looked into the jobs where you work from home? I've just put in app with TeleTech - Customer Service Representative TeleTech@Home. are you located in Jacksonville? the reason i'm asking is is i'm going to my nursing support group in Tallahassee. the whole city has only 1 group. the facilitator is leaving and IPN is looking for someone to replace her. I really don't get much out of this group. the nurses in this group are really clickish. i'm pretty much not included. . I live in ga and drive. same distance for me to change to J-ville. I am thinking of transferring to J-ville where there are multiple group meetings and better access to referrals for a job. I will let you know if I hear of any other possible jobs for you.
