Finally...A job!

Hello everyone! I just wanted to share some good news. after searching for about 3 weeks I finally got hired! I'm not posting this to brag or rub anyone's nose in it but just to give those who are trying to look for employment in the nursing field hope.

The position is actually working part-time as an LPN, not an RN (since I'm licensed as both) at a local nursing home. It's daylight shift every Saturday and Sunday, and then there's always potential for more hours if there are call offs or other staffing needs. The pay is only $17/hr. but I don't even care! It's a job in the nursing field! I am so greatful for this opportunity.

I called the D.O.N. at this place to check on the status of an RN application I put in a few days ago. While I was on the phone with her I thought I would mention that I was also an LPN and would except an LPN position if that was all she had and she said "come on in for an interview!" I was very up front about being involved with P.H.M.P. and she was awesome. She offered me the job on the spot!

I go in to renew my BLS on the 9th and start orientation on the 12th. After I get approval from my case manager, the D.O.N. said I'll be able to cross train as an RN supervisor! That's a few months down the road though.

Anyway, I just wanted to tell you guys who are trying to get a job please dont lose heart. The job you get will probably be when you least expect it, and it will be perfect for you, just like this one is for me. I believe God has a plan for us all. We don't get to know what that plan is, but there is a plan. Just keep doing the right thing and things will work out!

That is wonderful news for you. God does have big plans that we sometimes feel are impossible to reach. Keep doing the right thing. Remember one is to many and a thousand is never enough!:yeah:

That's great! I learned something new, too, as I didn't realize you could hold both an LPN and Rn (I obviously didn't get to RN via the LPN route, lol).

In our program, if you are an RN, you have to find work as an RN to finally get out of the program. It's great that you had more of a broad "area' to spread your wings! Good luck, and congrats!

Congratulations! Your success is a reminder that persistence and a positive attitude will pay off, even in a lousy economy. :)

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! Thank you for offering us some hope!!! I'm not giving up but I am getting frustrated! It's all about God's plan for us and the journey, isn't it? I'm so happy for you!

That said, I wanted to share a story with you....I quoted you above just because I am ALWAYS thinking this! I am always afraid I will come across as bragging when others are suffering. I was asked to work with a new girl at my treatment center because her story was similar to mine, I was probably about six months clean about the time. Unfortunately, this girl got exactly the opposite outcomes as me....I got the CHANCE program to have my felony expunged, and she got the max sentence, the board was willing to work with me and put me in the Alternative program and they wouldn't even look at her, gave her the discipline and told her she wouldn't be working for at least another year or two (or something equally harsh, I don't remember exactly) But anyways, I felt like just sharing with her what happened to me, when she was facing the maximum consequences, I was always uncomfortable, got all flustered talking to her, and eventually I stopped answering her calls because I always felt like my blessings were "just rubbing it into her face". I am totally ashamed of that today! (Ahhh another amends I should make) and I realize today, that I will NEVER again pass up another chance to offer someone HOPE.

I don't know why your good news prompted me to recall that story. I am so happy for you, never hold back when you have the chance to bring someone hope. xo Michelle

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I'm in agreement with everyone else. YOU ARE NOT bragging you are giving us all hope that there are jobs out there and there are people who will listen with an open heart and mind and give us a "second" chance. God does have a plan. I have been searching for about a year(license on probation w/ a misdemeanor charge) and it has been frustrating and often I feel like i'm at the end of my rope but when I read about others success, it gives me a little more strength to carry on. I'm currently holding my breath now on a job offer. I have been offered a position with good pay and benefits and a chance to enter a new field. But I have to await approval from the big HR GOD and hope someone gives me a chance.
