PH grad seeking advice

Hello Everyone,

I'm new to this forum and I hope I'm posting in the right area. Just needing advice on what steps to take to pursue my RN here in US. I graduated back in 2006 in the Philippines. Moved here in US the year after. Took my NCLEX via CA BON in 2008 and failed. I was discouraged and didn't attempt to try again. Worked in the medical field the last 8 years as Unit care assistant, now I'm ready to pursue nursing again but I don't know which steps to take. I've been reading a lot about the concurrency issue that everyone is having with CA BON. I live in WA state, btw. I called CA BON and they said I need to reapply again. Will they require me to submit my transcripts again? And will I have the same concurrency problem?

I'm debating whether I should just apply thru the State of WA since this is where I live and planning on staying. But what are the requirements?

Is anyone else in the same situation? Please help!

Because you are having to start all over again I would suggest applying directly to the state you plan on living and working in.

Hi Silverdragon102, do you think I will need to go back to nursing school all over again? I'm confused as to where to begin this whole process.

A lot will depend on the BON seeing as you have no RN experience since you qualified. Just start by doing whatever WA wants in regards their requirements when trained outside the US and take it from there. If they do not want you to retake nursing they may want you to do a refresher course
