Hi there!

I am a Filipino who is registered nurse here in UK. I wanted to work in Australia however they are strict now with the requirements and most of my friends were ask to do a bridging course. Now, somebody told me to apply registration in New Zealand then apply in Australia after via Trans Tasman Agreement.

My questions are:

1) If I will apply in New Zealand and get the registration, can I apply right away to Australia or do I need to work first in New Zealand as a nurse?

2) If ever I need to work in NZ, how long do I need to work there before I can apply for Australian registration?

Do you have two years paid nursing experience of at least 2500 hours in the last 5 years as required by the NZNC? NZ often requires a CAP bridging program also (at candidate cost) and you have 24 months to complete but the wait lists were longer than 24 months and the NZNC was not extending deadlines. Have you looked at the requirements for the NZNC for IENs? Sometimes there are barriers to back door entries

Many of the NZNC requirements are similar to AUS/APHRA.

Thank you. Yes I have more than 2500 hours experience. Will they not honor my registration and work experience here in London as well? I have been working as a registered nurse here for 5 years, so I thought maybe it will be an additional edge to my appplication there in NZNC. I checked it already and it's not as difficult as the AUS registration.

Apply. They consider your IELTS, educational history as well as your work history. Only the NZNC can tell your for certain if you meet their educational and credential requirements.
