Hi y'all

im im basically after some information. I'm a British nursing student about to start my 3rd and final year of my nursing degree. Once I qualify and get some experience under my belt I want to nurse in Texas. I've looked into the whole process and know it is a long one but what I can't seem to find is the requirements to apply to take the NCLEX exams. How many hours in each area do I need? How many years experience post reg? Etc etc. if anyone can help I'd really appreciate it. Many thanks

US nurses are generalist trained and must have clinical and theory in adult, geriatric, pediatric, maternal/child & obstetrics, and psych/mental health. Most UK nurses do not meet the requirements as they are specialist trained and most of the specialties do not cover OB as the UK has midwifery.

You do not apply to take the NCLEX. You apply for a nursing license by examination as an internationally educated nurse. NCLEX is but one step in the process. There are links to the state boards of nursing at the bottom of this web page. The TX BoN lists the requirements for licensing by examination as an IEN. You must first have your credentials evaluated by a third party such as CGFNS. CGFNS will determine if your education and credentials meet the minimum standards required by TX BoN.

The bigger issue will be whether you have the right to live and work in the US/a valid work visa, citizenship or permanent residency status.
