Kabayan,if you look for a school,it has to be approved by the BRN.I looked into boards approved schools, unfortunately I didn't see it on the list. It's useless if you finish the entire deficiencies but the board wouldn't recognize it.Piece of advice, make sure the schoolIs approved by the RN board.Good luck
I thought that is an approved school by brn lol

To all may kababayan out there good news guys i found a school here in the bay area offering a refresher course for rn that got denied by the bon. I just called them they said they cannot start the class right because they have only 2 students enrolled for the said refresher course. They are looking for at least 8 student to open a class. If you guys inerested you can call them .the name of the school is cornertone international college. Pls. Pm me for those who wanted to enroll so we can go together..
I agree with dragon_lady, I don't see this school as a CA approved one by the BON. Plus it's only a refresher course. It doesn't matter if their website states they are accredited, approved, etc, unless they are on the actual CA BON approved list.

For all we know, this could be one of those that the CA BON discourages from attending, see (click) the link:

RN and LVN licenses are different entities. You cannot endorse your RN license for an LVN license. Sure, they are both nursing licenses; however, they are ruled by different Boards in CA - Board of Registered Nursing for the former and Board of Vocational Nursing & Psychiatric Technician for the latter

Your options if you want to work in CA are: 1) Try to endorse your current RN license for a CA RN license (note that there are concurrency issues happening) 2) Apply for the LVN licensure (there are 5 methods to qualify to apply; select the applicable method)

Which state are you looking for work? There are many US nurses especially new grads struggling to find work so it isn't just you

It's been a struggle alright.... I'm looking for work in the State of Oregon...i've applied to many "new grad" opportunities but have been denied in all of them...i've tried and both hospital and LTC but all of them want experience...even when they say "new grad" they still pick those with some experience...so it isn't just me, thanks for letting me know.

Kabayan, just so you know I have previously posted an article that stated the demand for PH grads and nurses for the USA will not be needed till the year 2020. For now, the top hiring priority will be for more USA educated grads and nurses as they too are having a very tough time. To be honest, I think it will go beyond the 2020 year mark, even if the economy becomes stronger in the next 5 years. There is simply more and more local USA nurses that are being educated.

I mean really, when was the last time anyone from the Phils posted "hey, I got the hospital job", "guys, I start my new hospital unit next week", "yea, I got an interview". I am referring to a hospital job work, not LTC or SNF or personal care giver or sub-acute. Nothing wrong with those jobs if that works for you, but like myself and like many of my friends, we prefer to be in peds, ICU, ER, L&D, OR, the many other specialty units.

Just like my friend's cousin in Australia has been looking for a hospital nurse job for over 18 months, no luck, with those jobs also going to the local Australian grads. Same truth in the States.
