CNO Other Evidences of Language Requirement

Good day!

I want to start this thread hoping that there are other forum members who have gone through same dilemna and can share their experience and side of story.

I am an IEN and have applied with CNO for LPN. Passed the CPNRE lately but with outstanding English requirement. Anyway, going back to CNO website, I've noticed that the college can accept other evidences of English such as a diploma from a non-nursing program provided the instruction is in English with minimum 200 hours of contact hours and not distance learning. And so, this gave me some hopes that the college might likely accept my Unit Clerk diploma since I have earned it from one of the colleges in Edmonton, with more than 600 hours of clinical instruction coupled with 160 hours of hospital practicum. I have forwarded these papers to them 2 months ago but haven't heard from the college until this time.

My question is...does anyone in the forum with the same experience? I'm just pretty worried and anxious to know the result from the college whether they'll honor those papers, otherwise I have no choice but to sit for the celban.

Your unit clerk diploma has nothing to do with getting your nursing license and will have no bearing on meeting the language requirement.

Hi loriangel14!

Thanks for your input. Have you ever check updated CNO website? Have you gone over their Other Evidences of Rnglish Requirement? Because There it clearly states that the college can accept other evidences and one of this is diploma from a non-nursing program. So 'am thinking there's possibility my Unit clerk diploma would likely be accepted. But in the case it won't..I would still let you know. I have called CNO today and they're requesting certificate coming directly from the school where I finished my unit ckerk program. Very hopeful....
