I'm applying for a WHNP program for this fall!!!! I actually graduate w/ my bsn in a couple of wks & will be working FT on pp. So, i will be going PT to grad school. I'm so excited about the prospect. Now, I just have to get in!

Specializes in Nephrology, Cardiology, ER, ICU.

If you get a job where you only work 3 days a week you may be able to attend grad school full time and get done faster.

There are 5-6 of us on my unit and we all work full-time and school full-time. 2 of us graduated.

Oh esp. if you work night shift, a lot of times you have extra time to read and study. At least on my unit you do. not in winter and not always, but it works out okay.

Specializes in OB/GYN, Med/Surg, Family Practice.

I'm curious, where are you applying? I've been accepted into Emory University's WHNP program for this fall. I haven't heard from many of us in that type of program.

Good luck to you, by the way! :D

i think i want to at least take my first year of nursing & grad school easy. on top of grad school & FT work i want to work on my spanish (used to be fluent when i was a kid but then i moved away from my spanish-speaking family so i sound like a 2yr old speaking it now!). Also, i have to work every other w/e & they're short-staffed so i'll prob get called in a lot. i'll prob do a heavier load after my 1st yr.

i have a Q, how do you handle daytime clinicals & working night shifts?

I swear, lately I have been the most wishy-washy person ever!!! So, I think I am going to put off grad school for a long while. I actually just got offered a phone interview & will tell them that I am no longer interested.

This is my reasoning: my husband & I met in the military & started college as soon as we got out. We got married during my first semester of undergrad. He graduates a year from now & we really want to start having kids (especially since we're not getting any younger). So, I think I'll just wait to start grad school once our kids start school. That way, I can just work & focus on my marriage for the next year w/o having to worry about homework etc...I want to focus on my dh w/o having the military or school distract me! Then, we can try & get pg. I really want to enjoy my pg & having a baby. In the meantime, I'll just be getting more experience as an ob RN, which I know I'll love. Others tell me I should just begin grad school now so my kids don't remember me being in school. Many of my instructors suggest this. But I'm starting to think that I just want to live for awhile w/o worrying about grades. Plus, we have TONS of loans....I need to work to pay those off. i'm kinda sad that i won't be going to grad school but i think its the best thing for now.

thank you all for your well wishes!!! I start on postpartum in a month!!!! I'm so proud to be a nurse like the rest of you! :prdnrs:
