Should I take it as a good sign that I recieved the financial aid packet, or is it standard protocol that all applicants recieve one? Thanks in advance!!!!

I didn't attend Vanderbilt however, I would think it's safe to assume that the Financial Aid office wouldn't bother processing and evaluating your packet if you hadn't been accepted.

That's just my :twocents:

Congrats!

Thanks for the response LaeDeesNP!!!! I suppose I should have stated that the packet was more like information on loans, scholarships, etc addressed to prospective nursing sudents. I thought I read on here a while back that that was a good sign and only sent to accepted students. However, their website says it is sent to all applicants on 1/15. Anyone have any insight??? Desperately waiting for my acceptance letter! :-(

Oh, well either way, good luck! I know the waiting process is excruciating and seems to pass very sloooooowly. :-) Think positively!

It is hard to say. Each University has a different business practice.

My office sends Round I of the financial aid application process to all applicants on February 1 (reminds them to do FAFSA, includes University FA forms). Round 2 is the Teaching Assistant application, and that is sent to all doctoral applicants in April.

I send the scholarship application to students after they accept the offer of admissions.

I also got financial aid info from yesterday. I was also hoping it was a good sign....sigh....I think we just have to hurry up and wait.

Thank you for the feedback! You're right IvICU.......hurry up and wait!

MedVision- did you get an e-mail from this week? They said it may be another 4-6 weeks before decision letters are sent out. The wait is killing me!

I know I freaked when I got that email......this is brutal! Have you completed your Fasfa?! I'm now wondering if I'll qualify for loans, my EFC score was suuuuper high!!! I'm so over this stress!

I did my fafsa and my EFC is high too. I think that loans won't be a huge problem One of my friends just started CRNA school this past fall and her husband is a surgeon. They make a ton more money than I do and she still got loans. I think I might also look into some scholarships too but I want to wait to see if I get accepted. I wonder if they will e-mail us when they start sending out decision letters?

Oh ok that's great! Their next open house is March 6, seems like in years past, students recieved their letters before the spring open house. So that only leaves 3 wks. I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed for sooner rather than later. Good luck....keep me posted!

I believe with Stafford loans, anyone can get them no matter how much money they make. The difference is that people with a lower EIC can qualify for subsidized loans (where interest will not accrue).
