60 day notice

Hi all!

I am in a bit of a mess and I would appreciate some knowledgeable advice. I work as a NP in a mediocre job... I am on contract and have to give a 60 day notice in order to break contract and work elsewhere. I was just offered an amazing opportunity with much better benefits and more of an exciting career but they want me to give my 60 days notice immediately so I can start as soon as possible. Which is fine except I have a major vacation planned and already paid for that Falls in that 60 day window. Even though my boss has approved my vacation time off, can he tell me I have to work it since it's in that 60 day window?

Unless your a federal worker or have some kind of union backing, he can hold you to whatever standard he wants. Unless that contract says that once leave is granted they are obligated to stand by it.

What does you contract specify about vacation utilization? If they were to cancel your vacation based on you giving notice that would be seem to be a decision made by the employer in bad faith.

Curious how this turned out. I would have just given my 60 days and taken my vacation without even mentioning it. I mean its sixty days notice total not 60 working days right?
