We have to orient them for several months and do not expect them to really get the hang of their job for at least one year or more. As for the question about what is most important for them to learn, I would say MASLOW's Heirarchy. Over and over we have safety issues and that should be the first thing the new grads should get solid on before practicing. Know how to be safe and how/when to get help.
