Watts school of Nursing newbie

U.S.A. North Carolina

Published

Hi everyone!

I'll be taking my Entrance exam for Watts school of nursing in October and I am just freaking out! I've been studying for about two and a half months now, and I feel only half-prepared! I am a mediocre math student, so I was wondering how is the math on the exam? What are the specifics if anyone can help with that? Also, I hear you have to do do paperwork after the exam, anyone know what kind? Any information I should bring with me to the day of the exam? Are we actually submitting our application form or the essay?

I'm first generation in my family as well as the first to go to college so I'm really confused on this whole process.

Thank you!

No paperwork after the exam...The administrator will ask you to clarify your information so that she can contact you. You don't formally apply until after you pass the exam. i can give you hints about the exam if your curious, but let me know. I passed it the first shot with a 90/91 score, so its not that hard. but I like taking tests too.

Hey, i just took the exam and can honestly say that i can't figure out how i did. I left about 10 math problems unanswered completely in the interest of getting through the test and hoping to come back to those i passed over. I am wondering how this test is actually scored. In the reading i was only able to complete two of the three passages. Most people who took the test with me had the same problem. I have never taken a test and truly not known how i did...Can someone tell me if this was their experience and how their results ended up?

I just took the exam as well and had pretty much the same experience you just described! since there were 90 questions for the first part, you would need at least 45-50 questions to be correct in order to pass. I don't know about the reading part though. Good luck to you! I'm hoping to have passed as well. The next two weeks are going to be a living nightmare for me.

I was thinking that perhaps the first section was divided up into 30 questions each of vocab, spatial and math. But I didn't remember actually answering 20 math problems. And then of course, the reading comp was awful. I had just gotten done with the second passage and time was up. I wish someone would chime in for us and say "yes that happened to me and I passed!" I can't imagine sitting through that again and doing any better. I knew ahead of time that I would have to move fast. Its been 30 years since I went to school :(.

hey prcoach, I got my results in today. I got a 34 on the academic aptitude and 23 on the reading....ouch. Not going to give up though! I'm going to take a shot at the second chance and pray for the best! I hope you did much better than I did! I know how the test it now so I'm not going to freak out as much but I guess the pressure is on since it's my last chance:uhoh3:

oh well, best wishes!

Hi, did you get your results? Did you pass? I am going to be taking it next Tuesday and I am so nervous. I have no idea what is going to be on the test. I purchased the ARCO book and have been studying it, but I am still extremely nervous because I don't test well. I am praying for very good luck on that day.!!!!!

Hi Tarhealer,

I was wondering if you could pass along a few tips about the test to me. I am taking the test next TUESDAY, and I am so nervous about it. It seems like you breezed right through it. Do you mind helping me out a little?:D

JL....Go to Watts School of Nursing June and go to page 573. I layed out some suggestions for another person that is taking the test on tues....The ideas are tossed around for 2 or three pages. If you read any more than that you'll find out how "special" our class is and will probably scare you, so I would not recommend it.

But definitely go to 573.

You can PM me if you don't get what you need.

Good Luck. I gave RiceChai some suggestions, but I'm not sure that they worked.!!!!

Sorry for the Delay...I couldn't find you and this is not a usual forum that I chat in.
