Update on ECPI??? Current Students or Grads??

I havent seen any information on ECPI's lpn program on here since 2009... Just wanted to start a new thread on here and see if any new, past students or grads have any opinions on their program. I already know its expensive and accelerated. I'm entering the program in August (Charlotte, NC) and could use information on your experience there. I'm mentally prepared to study in this program like its summer classes in a cc. I'm interested in both in-class opinions and how your experience has been after graduation. Are you happy with what you learned there? Would you do it again? Have you had a problem getting a job since your lpn credentials are from ECPI? Are you immediately dropped if you fail a test? Have any lpn grads been able to enter a lpn to rn program coming from ECPI??? etc. Just ANYTHING you'd like to share is much appreciated!

I had never even heard of wia until now and googled it.. as far as applying for it was that something they helped you with at ECPI or did you apply on your own? did you have to wait on a waiting list?

No, its something I found and applied for on my own. Ecpi does not talk to you about anything outside of what is offered via FAFSA (grants/loans) and their own $200 per month payment plan. Im strictly speaking of my experience at the Charlotte campus. Because of WIA funds, I didn't need to agree to the $200 ECPI payment like everyone else. You can pay what you want, whenever you want, just to lower your government loan amount. Every county should have an office/center where they can go through the WIA process. Check first to see if your county provides funding for ECPI, ~I heard by ear that~ some dont because of the low retention rate. My county WIA office asked me to write a letter stating why I chose ECPI over other nursing schools- wrote it, waited a week to hear back that it was approved and I was in.

You have to apply BEFORE you start ECPI though... or at least have your WIA orientation, test date and be assigned a counselor before the first day of class (about 2 weeks tops). They'll tell you to set your test date online, but online it has a 2-3 month wait in this county, so I called them after my orientation and told them nicely/urgently that I was under a deadline & needed the very next test date if possible because I was starting school in 3 weeks... took my test within 2 days. The test is easy reading (what was the topic of the passage?) and 123 x 456= type of stuff. Upon passing and getting an appt. to see your counselor, they will need to see your FAFSA, and ECPI will help you with a receipt to show the school once you tell ECPI's financial aid rep that you will be using WIA funds. Its not a difficult process at all.

Hello everyone although I am a few years late lol. Ive tried the CC route with all of my prereqs over 10 years experience as a can and still was chosen for an alternate....twice lol. So now I am currently enrolled in ECPI and I love it! The advisors and instructors really care and the school itself has many resources available. If you don't study then yes you will not do well. This is an accelerated program but the instructors really push you and make sure that you take advantage of tutoring. I hope this helps. Oh and btw my school has one of the highest NCLEX passing rates in our state:)

What will your degree be? ADN? if so you are going to have to do a lot of catching up to get your BSN (which most places are going to make you commit to getting).

No its for the LPN. Ive taken almost all of my prereqs so those should transfer since they were done at a cc.

Hey Cutenurse4, I was considering Chamberlain or ECPI. Do they have nurses teaching the classes? I have about 50 college credits. Do they accept transfer students? I'm currently a student at CPCC. I would hate to lose all my hard work if they don't. I know Chamberlain does but they are so expensive. I need advice please and thank you!!!

Hey guys, I go Thursday to speak to ECPI in Greenville about the LPN program. I have been going to a tech school for the program and it has been a long wait! I am so tired and ready to get done with school so I have spoken with a nurse I work with who has just finished up at ECPI for her LPN. How's everyone's opinion so far on the program? I get that it is fast paced I understand that, I work part time and have two small children but I have a great support system, my husband and my parents are great! I hope everything goes great and I can do the program. I have completed Eng 101, psychology, Prob and Stats, Computer, Keyboarding, and Medical Terminology at the tech school.

I currently attend the program in Raleigh NC campus and it is very fast paced. Be prepared to study hard as each class is 5 weeks including A and P

I just passed the entrance exam and will be due to start January 22nd at the Raleigh campus. Was it hard finding a job afterwards?

I'm in the fourth semester at ECPI Charlotte. From what I've heard so far job prospects are plentiful a. How's school going for you so far?
