I turn in my last assignment this week!!

I started at ECU, but they were in a transition phase and it was terrible. I love UNCW. The curriculum seems more relevant that churning out paper after paper. The tuition is reasonable and I even got a scholarship I didn't ask for.

One of the downsides is that they use a third party to supply TAs or "coaches". They are hit or miss. Most are fine. Also, I have found some inconsistencies in the amount of work from class to class, but not bad. I definitely would recommend. The director is great and very approachable.

How many classes are you taking per session? Are you working full-time while taking classes? How stressful is it? Thank you for the insight. I really appreciate it!

I took two classes per session which is 4 per semester. I worked full time the whole time. It took me a calender year. I didn't find it terribly stressful; the syllabi give you a good idea of what you need to to when and most assignments are W/F/S so you can plan. I work weekends and I was almost always able to have all my work turned in by Friday night so I didn't have to worry. Because it is for working nurses, they have it set up for people of all shifts. I rented all my books but 2 (APA style being one) so that we pretty cheap.

God forbid, but I might actually look into their MSN program.

It's kind of inconvenient that they only provide transcript evaluations after acceptance. It feels nervous not to know exactly which required non-nursing courses we still need to take to fulfill graduation requirements, if there are any. How did you deal with this problem, mmc51264?

I was denied admission based on my academic record. ***** I graduated with my ASN with a GPA of 3.7 and my community college pre-req GPA was 4.0. My high school GPA wasn't great but it was THIRTY years ago. I called and left a message to find out why. Guess I'll look into Winston Salem State now. At least they don't require college chemistry. :)

After a phone call, I found out it wasn't because of grades. ..it was because I need another English class. Why couldn't the letter have said THAT?!?!?

Seriously?! I cannot believe you could be denied admission with such good grades! Exactly which English class did you lack, may I ask? It's got to be a REALLY important English class..... I thought they said you don't have to have already taken all the required non-nursing classes for admission.

The only reason I was denied admission was the English class. I need 2; I only have 1. Supposedly you have to have BOTH English classes before being admitted, even though there are other classes (like chemistry and stats) that you can take after you've been admitted. I'll take it at the local community college and then re-apply.

I checked back at their admission requirements page. They do require "at least 6 credits in college-level English" to begin the admission process. Well, you will fulfill that requirement in no time and definitely get accepted the next time you apply! You can also consider Appalachian State RN-BSN. I heard it's pretty good.

I had to take a writing intensive class, I took it at comm college while in the program and transferred it in. The only frustrating part that I found was that I had a previous a BS and took 2 semesters of German but it wasn't a 200 level class so I to take Spanish. they combine SP 1 ans SP 2 and mash it into one 7 1/2 week course. VERY difficult.

I didn't need anything else. If you can get past the transcript auditors and talk to an adviser and/or the director, I got them to take another look at mine.
