UNC Chapel Hill (Spring 2010) January 2010 - Anyone Receive Word?

U.S.A. North Carolina

Published

Just checking, I posted a response in a separate thread, but thought a new thread could hold its own.

I applied to UNC Chapel Hill's Nursing Program for January 2010. BSN Program, not ABSN. Already, I have received two confirmations from students that have received acceptance yesterday into the ABSN program.

1. Has anyone received word about their acceptance into either the ABSN or BSN program?

2. Has anyone received word regarding "no offer" of acceptance? And, if so, what are your plans going forward if you did not receive an offer.

I am obviously anxious and waiting for a response. Just checking to see if anyone else is in the same boat.

Thanks and good luck, everyone! :)

Hey All!

I applied to the ABSN program and still havent received word! I'm starting to get nervous thinking that all acceptances have been sent out. I spoke to the nursing school and was told that they would be sent by the 15th so I will keep my fingers crossed until then, maybe even put out a lawn chair by my mailbox to greet the mailman everyday until I get it! (jk) but good luck to everyone else!

Relieved as I am but still bummed to read that others do not know the outcome of UNC's decision, I finally received UNC's notification to me earlier this morning (Thursday, 11/12/09). They offered me a place in the program. I applied to their BSN program, not their ABSN.

I spoke to a former student today that told me the denial letters are fairly thin. The acceptance letters are somewhat thicker containing several papers. And the waitlist version is a thick packet. As I discovered and confirmed from another person accepted into the Jan. 2010 ABSN program, the first word of the letter is, "Congratulations!"

By the way, I do not live too far away from Chapel Hill in Durham County. Inside letter dated November 6 (Friday). UNC postmarked on November 9 (Monday). USPS postmarked November 10 (Tuesday). Holiday yesterday delayed it, I imagine. Received today, November 12 (Thursday). I must give them a confirmed response by the 20th of November (next Friday).

I hope this information helps. I am awaiting a few of my friends to respond confirming their notifications regarding the BSN program. Thus far, I have not heard anything from them (they may not have arrived home yet). Nevertheless, I will report back any positive or less than positive news.

Stay positive. Stay focused. The letters may have actually been sent out in batches. Best of success to your all.

:)

No word today.

CONGRATULATIONS to C2C and thuscwspake!!!!! Celebrate and have a cold one (or 10) for me!

Hey everyone! Well, here is some good news - I got my letter in the mail today (I applied for the BSN option and live in Chapel Hill). I got accepted! You will indeed need to let the school know by November 20 of your intentions.

Best of luck to everyone still! I hope you all hear soon!

Congrats!!!!!!!

and Congrats again C2CNurse! :-)

Hey Everyone! I also received an acceptance letter to UNC BSN program. Does anyone know the tuition for the 6 semesters?

I was also accepted to Georgetown's ABSN program but the tuition is ~70,000 which doesn't include living expenses. I have been waiting to see if I was accepted to Chapel Hill for a very long time since I have to put in my Georgetown deposit by this weekend ($900). Needless to say, I was very happy to see the letter!! Good Luck to everyone else who is waiting!! (My address is ~ 2 hours away from Chapel Hill)

hey everyone! i also received an acceptance letter to unc bsn program. does anyone know the tuition for the 6 semesters?
the 2008-2009 tuition cost for the 24mos (six semester) program was $12,240 +/-. it's probably more, now, but not terribly different from that number i would guess (maybe 20% more?). but, add other costs like books, medical insurance, uniforms, ancillary courses, clinical fees, and you're probably pushing the program cost to more like 20.5k +/- (maybe add 10% to that).

i don't have a current fee schedule, and for those in the absn program, i'm thinking the cost will be less because less semester are attended. i'll be adding the international component, so i'm sure that cost only increases. if anyone else has information more timely and accurate, i'd be interested in that too since this is all coming out of my back pocket.

hey cschurch09,

i'm thrilled to hear your excitement as well. congratulations! it's gonna be a great two years. let's make it a goal to become the highest ranked nclex pass rate unc has ever had. :)

by the way, so i am not confused and that others understand the mail timeline, you received your notification sent to charlotte? if so, i'm really hoping those that have not yet heard anything will hear something by tomorrow, if not by saturday.

as for study groups, we at the present community college i attend have a strong one. it has helped greatly. i balance that with self-study and i have received straight hi-a's in everything. the main responsibility we have toward each other is to stay up to date on our reading so that material we cover is review, loaded with questions and clarifications. it's amazing how well it's worked. i've always been an independent studier, but with the right people bent on success, it's proven to be another great tool for great grades, and learning, of course.

i'll be getting a group together online so we have a means of staying in touch. face book is a great central resource for that. this way, we can get a private group together and post lab studies in private folders... helpful for anyone missing a lecture/lab or two, too.

can't wait to meet everyone. i'm going in knowing, already, a number of friends from dtech... and i look forward to meeting a new family of peers. cheers to the class of 2011! :)
