UNC apartment search - any suggestions on where to live during my ABSN?

Hi!

I'm starting nursing school in January at UNC (wooo!) and would love any suggestions (especially from past UNC nursing students) regarding what apartment complexes are the best for nursing students to live in. I wouldn't mind being in a complex with lots of undergrads as long as the walls are thick and it's not distractingly loud. I'd love to hear about experiences living with fellow nursing students vs other grad students, since I've been thinking it could be really nice to have roommates on the same schedule as me - has that worked out for people in the past? Nice places that are affordable and close to campus are the ideal - I'd love to find somewhere right on the bus route to Carrington.

Thanks in advance!

Depends on your definition of "affordable." I love Southern Village, and it's on a busline. Never had problems with noise and it's very much young professional instead of student.

Other popular ones on buslines are Laurel Ridge, University Commons, and Bershire West.

Collins Crossing is pretty affordable if you have a roommate. It's not the best place I've lived, but not the worst. It worked for while I was in nursing school and a fair number of nursing students lived there, which made the bus ride more enjoyable. It's on the "J" line.

If you're looking for a less complex-y feel, West Poplar Apartments is 2 buildings, about 10 total apartments, run by a Mom & Pop type feel.

Also, Spring Garden Apartments is super close to campus, an easy walk.

Hope this helps, best of luck in the program! :)
