Prerequisite-Only programs?

A friend of mine has a bachelor degree in Art History. She wasn't serious in college and just went to network, thinking she could have a career in art. Long story short, and ten years later, she has been volunteering at a hospital and wants to be a nurse.

Her GPA from her Art History degree is horrible (think many, many Ws and a few Fs) and she wants to know if there are any programs that do not weigh the cumulative GPA so heavily (or at all) and focus on the prerequisite GPA in NC.

She is open to community colleges, but would prefer to go straight for a BSN.

Any help is appreciated. We are in the Wake county area.

I think your friend's best bet would be to start calling around to schools in NC and asking which GPA the rely heavily on.

I have heard of some (delightful) schools that allow students to effectively declare "academic bankruptcy" which wipes the slate clean on all previous records and get a fresh start .. but usually limited to a semester or two, not an entire transcript. I agree with PP - calling on program advisors and simply asking about this opportunity is undoubtedly her best shot.

search for bridge programs (tho I dont know of any in NC). I went to a school that is you had a BS in anything you could go and get either you BSN or an accelerated MSN
