Guilford Tech Fall 2012 Nursing Program

U.S.A. North Carolina

Published

New to allnurses.com but, I just applied for Nursing School at GTCC and I am so anxious to find out what points are getting accepted! Just wondering how many have applied and what their point range was? That Tea's V was a butt Kicker for me! So anxious to get a letter!

Hey mogget, I'm not really sure on the points we are all just speaking on hear say! I think it's all a mystery to everyone applying! I asked the counselor myself about teas and since their pass rate is much higher and u can only get up to two points for the teas versus other schools that have lower pass rates and add ur entire score to your points he said they just look to see who passed or not! I wish they looked at gpa versus points lol! I know the A&P classes are counted heavier for A's and B's versus other pre Reqs but micro and etc don't have point value but it most certainly has to be a benefit and reflect good on your application I would think:) I don't think any Of us really know anything 100 percent on how this whole acceptance and point range works but having other people to talk with who are goIng through the wait also sure does help to pass the time !

Nice to officially meet you Linda and Victoria! My name is Amber. :) Hearing this from the advisor was pretty comforting and I do think that we all have a great chance! Even if we make alternate we have a wonderful chance of getting into the program. I still won't get my hopes up too high but its hard not to when you want something so bad. I'll just keep waiting by my mailbox and talking with you ladies on here to pass the time! Linda, $2,000 you say? Lord have mercy. I'm thinking of applying for loans for the 2nd year of nursing school, but I heard you have to have 12 credit hours (full time) in order to get this. Is that true? I know nursing 211 is 5 credit hours and nursing 213 (complex health) is 10 credit hours... I don't think I could take "extra" classes with these to match this criteria. Especially after what I've been hearing about the program its self. Nursing 111 is by far the worst though, that will be in the fall of this year. Ladies; were in for a rude awakening! BUT we will make it through! :)

Hi Amber, nice to officially meet you also! It is hard not to get your hopes up, and this waiting processes just isn't cool lol! I take out loans that I have to pay back ! When I filled out the fasfa form I guess they are all I qualified for but luckily with those types of loans who only have to be 6 hrs so the semester that is only 5 credit hours I m just going ( if I get in) take a yoga class or something for one credit! I heard how hard nursing is, I have a little girl who will be two in April so luckily she motivates me more than anything ever has :)

Thats great information! Thank you for letting me know about the full time deal. It is a relief to hear that! I will end up having to take a Yoga class with you too if I get in. The clock seems to go by soooo slow! Even my 5 classes I'm taking right now aren't helping! These aren't pre requisites to the ADN program, I am getting my associates in arts in the summer as well so if I want to do a bridge program for ADN to MSN or ADN to BSN I will already have a lot of the prerequisites done like Statistics, organic and biochem, micro and etc. Good way to pass the time! but I'm still stalking my mailbox....haha. How are you ladies holding up? Any new news about the program? :) Happy Valentines Day!!!!

Hey guys...I applied at GTCC and I have 71 points, but didn't make the 66 on the TEAS (made a 64 ugh!) anyway, the counselor told me that they will probably be dropping the 66 range b/c not many people make it...she also said that people with high points have a good chance of getting in based on that. I am also applying at FTCC.

Hello Momof2sons! 71 points??!! wow!!! That is wonderful! You are definitely some stiff competition! haha ;) I'm sorry to hear about the Teas test :( But honestly with 71 points at GTCC and the FTCC minimum being 42% on the Teas Exam you would probably definitely (i don't want to jinx it!) get into Forsyth for the fall of this year. That has to be one of the best MAR rankings I've seen. Congratulations!

Hi ladies. I have applied at FTCC for this fall 2012 semester and thank goodness they will not be counting the TEAS test against you (well at least not this year) they will start to count it next year. This year if you do well on the TEAS, you will get 2-5 competitive points (which i did not earn), if you do bad, it won't count against you. I currently have 77 competitive points not including the possible 15 you can earn at their information session. I am not sure if the point range is anything like GTCC. But if it is, I should have a good chance. FTCC is suuuuuper competitive and the only school that I applied for. So wish me luck. It seems that schools are setting a really high standard for the students that they select and making it much harder to get into the program. We find out if we are a category 1 or category 2 in March (category 1 is good). Then in May is when we find out whether or not we got in!! Best of luck to everybody!!

Hello NurseNiqua! I saw that for Forsyth Tech the minimum teas exam requirement is 42% total and they actually add those points to your score from the prereq classes. My score with just the prereq classes for that school is 75 and I got a 68 on my teas so adding that would be 143 points.... Thats what they had stated on their website? Has this changed? I'm so confused now! I know that if you don't get 42% at Forsyth or 66% at GTCC on your teas test you are automatically ineligible to apply for the nursing program regardless of how many points you have? I hate being confused! haha :)

Thanks ark88...I live about 5 min from FTCC so it would be convenient to get in there, but i know alot of people who have gone there for nursing and say it stinks..however, they do have the best pass rate i believe.

OMGEEEEE I feel like such a BUM.. I'm from FAYETTEVILLE, NC.. I guess when I saw FTCC I got a little too excited sorry guys wrongs school..

That is interesting to know they may drop the Teas score at Gtcc. I wonder if they will and how many people they had pass??. My name is Annelise btw :). With 40s being the average I really hope my 39 points are enough!!! Just gotta hope and pray !! I have 143 or so at Forsyth but we'll see if I can get my transcripts in on time ! But I feel like all of ya'll, can't wait for the 2nd week of March!!! Hopefully it will be good news for all of us :D

Hi Everyone, I am new here to allnurses.com and I have also applied for the fall GTCC nursing program. It's nice to see some others on here going through the same thing too! The wait is killing me. I had 57 points and made an 82.7% on the TEAS. I still feel like it won't be enough and I'm trying not to get my hopes up until I see that acceptance letter in my hand. I'm in A&P II right now, so I don't have any of those points yet, but I was able to get some extra points for my TEAS score and because I have taken Chemisty. I am hoping that is enought to push me over the edge.

Even if I get in, at this point I am starting to worry about how I will even make it through nursing school. I have 3 kids, 7,4 and 16 months old and a husband who works 55-60hrs a week. Everyone just keeps saying "how will you have time?" I've always brushed it off, but now that it's closer to becoming a reality, I am beginning to wonder that same thing myself! My goal before the fall(if I get in) is to get as much support lined up as possible.

The TEAS V was tough! I ran out of time for the math section and it totally killed my score. I just clicked randomly for the last 7-8 questions! I had tons of time left for every other section and I hate that they don't let you roll it over :(.

I look forward to chatting more with everyone! Good luck to you all!
