Alamance Community College Fall 2009

U.S.A. North Carolina

Hi,

I'm a newbie here, waiting to see if I'll be accepted to Alamance CC's nursing program. I understand that letters will probably start going out in mid-June. Anyone else here who has applied? Also, any details about the program from current enrollees would be great.

Thanks!

Hey Bella,

I don't know about that school, but best of luck!!!

Hi Bella Luna,

I'm also a student at ACC (couldn't change my username). I love ACC and hope to be accepted into the program for Fall 2010.

I attended an informational session yesterday and the department head stated that if you have 11-12 points you pretty much will get in. It becomes competitive when students only have ten points. With ten points, they look at application date.

Right now they have 73 or 75 slots (I can't remember) to fill for Fall and about 150 applicants. I would imagine most of those applying hold 10 points.

I hope this helps and best of luck to you.

Thanks for the replies!

Surgicalbum, good luck to you too.

DTCC PreRN, thanks for sharing that information with me. I applied a couple of years ago before I realized that they only admitted evening students every three years, and I've been taking classes every semester to stay enrolled. So hopefully my application date is early enough. I hope we both make it into ACC!

Good luck w/ your persuit to be a nurse. I have been accepted into the fall 2009 nursing program. Heard they had 600 applicants this year & only 108 seats (includes day, eve, & returning students). Returning students are the ones who have failed a semester. When that happens you have to start back in the fall & start all over ~ & you can fail only 1 semester before getting kicked out of the program. I have been going to ACC for 3yrs now working on my pre-req's (due to: kids, FT job, hubby). The nursing program is VERY competitive! I had 12 points (13=most) so I was pretty much guarenteed a seat. Most students who got in had 10 ~ some ~ their older application date would carry them in. Many of the ones w/ 10 points who didn't ger in could have if they had worked the required hours as a CNA. I have heard about several students who refused to work as a CNA ~ they missed the boat this year. Also the ones w/ the most points have their pick of day or eve classes. Again good luck.

Let me know if I can offer any other info.

Also, any details about the program from current enrollees would be great.

Thanks for your reply and congratulations! I also got in for this Fall (evening program). I've got the FT job, husband, and kids too; it is going to be a busy couple of years. But I'm really happy to get the chance to go back to school.

I hope to start my pre-reqs this fall. I wasn't aware that ACC had an evening nursing program, so reading this made my day! I'm another one that has a hubby, ft job and kids and realize that I'm about to embark upon a process that will take years to become a RN, but it's so worth it. I'm excited! Thanks for the post.
