  1. I think you get used to things. I hated to watch surgeries/blood/needles ect before I started my program as a surgical tech... Now I love any and all of it. You can do it!!!
  2. I have to hand write all my notes to get them to sink into my cortex..
  3. If something stinks... I would wear a mask... and not feel bad about it.
  4. When taking intro to psych, I had the choice to take it with the older teach or the new teach. I went with the older one. In this case it was the best way to go. You can talk with previous students for pointers, you know going in what to expect. The new teach was not great. She had 4 research papers for her class (on the quarter system to boot) the older was only 1 paper. For a core class, I went the 1 paper route. :)
  5. I always do this! It helps me to read before-hand!
  6. A&P is hard but not impossible!!!! If this is the only class your taking, just jump right in and do it!!! I promise it won't be as hard as you have made it out to be. :)
  7. When I was in school for my CST, it was a 1 hour drive to school each morning. It is doable but the real hard part is clinicals. I had to be there at 6am, so I had to wake @ 4am to be on the road by 4:45am to get to the hospital @ 5:50am to start learning @ 6am. It took my body a few weeks to adjust to driving home after clinicals for an hour. But I did it and if you really want it and it's the one that you get into, you can do it too!!! Best of luck!
  8. I have hospital exp. I am a surgical tech, so my end plan is to work in the OR. That being said, I also want to work as a travling nurse, so I hope to work in med-surg for the experience.
  9. Is there another CC in your area? You might take a math course there and see if it will transfer. You will learn math and if you don't make an A, you could re-take with the college you want to attend with the knowledge you can pass..
  10. I am a CST (cert. surgical tech). During my first clinical rotation, we were advised to make sure to: - eat breakfast (if you don't normally, eat dry toast and some juice) - keep breathing - if you feel faint, tell the doc/tech and back away from sterile field. - sit down, drink some oj (if poss) It never happened to me but it did to a classmate. Try to think about the good this procedure/surgery will do for the pt.
  11. :flwrhrts: Sending you support and hugs!!!!!
  12. I start classes in Aug. I went to the doc today, got my MMR, blood drawn for a titer and stared my TB series. We have our clinical orientation the end of this month. I need to get my uniforms and lab kit. Waiting on the books to buy... I am so excited!!!
  13. Just checkin in on you ncNurse2b... Have you heard anything yet????
  14. PA is medical while RN is nursing.. So they are different in that sense. The income from RN would help with PA school... Not much help, but I wanted to go to PA school also and have decided that RN is better for me. Good luck in whatever you do!!
  15. I want to think we were on the registry pretty quick, maybe 2 weeks? Just check the website and see. Congrats on becoming a CNAI...
