  1. Good luck w/ your persuit to be a nurse. I have been accepted into the fall 2009 nursing program. Heard they had 600 applicants this year & only 108 seats (includes day, eve, & returning students). Returning students are the ones who have failed a semester. When that happens you have to start back in the fall & start all over ~ & you can fail only 1 semester before getting kicked out of the program. I have been going to ACC for 3yrs now working on my pre-req's (due to: kids, FT job, hubby). The nursing program is VERY competitive! I had 12 points (13=most) so I was pretty much guarenteed a seat. Most students who got in had 10 ~ some ~ their older application date would carry them in. Many of the ones w/ 10 points who didn't ger in could have if they had worked the required hours as a CNA. I have heard about several students who refused to work as a CNA ~ they missed the boat this year. Also the ones w/ the most points have their pick of day or eve classes. Again good luck. Let me know if I can offer any other info. Also, any details about the program from current enrollees would be great.
  2. I feel your pain. . . I am an LPN w/ 18 yrs. I have just finished my pre-req's & will be starting the ADN in the fall. ONLY TOOK 3 _____ YEARS! You can fill in the blank! It has been long, exhausting, & frustrating. I do not encourage anyone to become an LPN.
  3. Hello. Does anyone have any experience w/ having to take an exam (NLN or equivalent) to challenge the whole 1st year of nursing? I have been an LPN for 17 years, I am currently attending a local CC to persue an ADN. I am taking classes PT, working Ft, doing my pre-req's. I have decided to take this exam after this semster . I live in NC. Does every CC require this? This college does not offer the bridge program. Thanks for any response.
