So I had an interview with a NICU back in March. A week or so later, the manager emailed me stating that she would be happy to offer me a position, but she doesn't know what positions are available and if there isn't one available, she will keep me in consideration.

Problem is, I have waited for two weeks and we (the manager and I) haven't heard back from HR.

I am getting very impatient and am thinking about moving on because I'm tired of the silliness. If there isn't a position open, please just tell me already! Damn.

Should I send an email thanking her for her time but I must move forward on my job search? Should I be patient? I don't know what to do. I am frustrated and a little ticked.

Yes, you have to be patient and wait. You can send a follow up email expressing your continued interest in the position to the manager and HR department and that you hope to hear from them soon with a decision.

I have another interview coming up for a med/surg oncology/nephrology unit at another hospital with amazing benefits and another interview for a cardiac step down unit within this same hospital. I am afraid that the med-surg job with great benefits will offer me a job before I hear back from the NICU. Otherwise I will be forced to take the job.

I will try to be patient a little longer, but I don't know what else to do. If I haven't heard from her by Friday I will send an email telling her I am still interested.

Waiting for a position sucks, but HR usually moves at a snails pace and then positions get frozen, especially around quarterly report times.

So now I am being accused by HR as only wanting NICU according to my mom's friend who is a higher-up.

My mom says to basically forget about NICU and to start following up more on the other jobs.

I am so ticked. I have interviewed for numerous positions at that same hospital. Why is it a crime that I want to be in the nicu and have followed up more regarding the NICU? It is not like I mentioned to the other managers that I want NICU as my end goal.

Ugh.

I give up. Screw em.
