Nervous... just finished NICU interview

For the internship at Providence Alaska in Anchorage.

Even though I have a tremedously fluffed resume, with honors, volunteering and loads of leadership positions through school, and a 2 year management position at a casino prior to college....I am nervous as heck on getting the job!!

The interview process was my first in my new nursing career... I just graduated and take my boards on Friday. There were three nurses and about 20 questions, an hour long, interview. There were so many situational questions that my head was spinning trying to find new ones or good ones to answer with. And then I worried I didn't answer them well enough...

UGH, I hate this nervous wreck stuff... I really want this job, I didn't look at NICU before but now I am and I am excited, its a nine month internship too, which gives me a tremendous base for a career in NICU. Theres a two year commitment on contract afterwards as well. I like the hours, nights 12's...

Is everyone this nervous their first interview?

I am interviewing also with NICU as a new GN; taking NCLEX exam first week of January due to holidays.

Good Luck. All hospitals are going to situational questions to better compare applicants. I just helped my hospital with their new format. I was the test student. It really helped me with my interviews.

I have been offered a position critical care internship for adult care hospital, I currently work for pediatric hospital as patient care assistant, but did my management hours in NICU so l must have shown them some ability to perform well in ICU environment.

Best wishes

Carolyn;)

I wish you the very best! I completely understand your nerves and anxiety. That's a natural reaction when we want something very badly. But I would caution you against posting so much specific information on a public website. If the manager who interviewed you were reading this, s/he would know instantly who you are. These sites are best used for anonymous communication.

Good luck with boards and the results of your interview!
