I want to do Neonatal Nursing in the future. What can I expect?

Right now, I am a pre-nursing student. I want to work with babies. What can I expect to deal with in this field of nursing? Thank you.

Welcome to the forum! Neonatal nursing is tough to sum up sometimes, because neonatal nurses work in environments that can be very different from unit to unit. For example, working in a newborn nursery can have a very different feel than working in a NICU. Even among NICUs, there are huge differences in the size of the departments and the types of babies that they take care of.

You might find it helpful to go the main page for this forum (NICU Nursing/Neonatal Forum) and read through the sections called "FAQ" and "Articles." Those have some really great posts about the things that nurses deal with in our specialty.
