Baby Jesus as a NICU admission

I had a thought about this today....

Could you imagine what it would be like if Jesus were a NICU admission today?

I could hear us nurses whisper:

"Another virgin birth? How could she NOT know she was pregnant?"

"No prenatal care? Ugh." "Better go get the UTox and HepB/HbIG ready..."

"Are you kidding me? This woman just crossed the border, JUST to give birth HERE??!!" "Now MY tax dollars are going to pay for it all.... why didn't she stay where she belonged??!!"

"Another baby daddy who isn't the real father. What a tramp...."

"Yet another GBS unknown....ugh. Get out the amp and gent and give him a bath...."

"I can't believe she had this kid outside the hospital!" "I mean, the kid could have come in with a temp of 94f!!"

Makes me wonder what I would have felt, had I not know I was caring for the Son of God.......It really makes me aware of the inhumane things we think in situations like this, instead of the caring spirit we should be showing.

Half our babies are named "Jesus". Quite a few "Juans" and "Joses" too.

"How could she NOT know she was pregnant?" At least 2-3 a month.

"No prenatal care? Ugh." Nearly every one that crosses over from Mexico.(Probably 60% of our NICU population...

We have 3 commode swimmers currently. We also have a lot of our friends from the south that sneak across and deliver at birthing centers. The last 4 we cooled were just as you described.

Is the son of God from the US/Mexico border? He'd fit right in, it seems!

That is beautiful!! Thank you for writing that and reminding us all how important it is to care for not only our NICU babies, but there families as well... Without our judgments! :-)
