VEEB (info request)

U.S.A. New York

Hi All

I'll be starting at VEEB in the Fall and was wondering if there are any current or past VEEB students that can give some info on this program.

What are the Teachers like?

What are the required books?

Is the program as intense as they say?

Do they have articulation agreements with other nursing (RN) programs? If so, with who?

Are there any disadvantages in taking the LPN course outside of a Community College setting?

Do they provide job Placement at the end???

Any information that ANYONE can provide will be GREATLY appreciated! I really want to have a full understanding of what I'm in for. I have 2 year old Twins and I am a little worried about whether or not I'll be able to juggle school/studying and Family!

Please reply someone if you know the answer to these questions. Congratulations PinkDove and I'll be seeing you in September!

hi!

congrats on getting into VEEB!

i don't know if there is more than 1 VEEB, so i'm basing my responses on the one on long island.

i don't got there, but i do have a good friend of mine who is there now. from what she tells me, it seems that she really likes it there! she gets along with the teachers very well. sorry i don't know what textbooks they use. i believe that the program is intense. according to my friend she has like 3 tests a week! and during finals, it's almost a test everyday. the tests are based on specific topics (cardio, neuro, peds, pharm etc). you attend clincal every other week. so one week you're in the classroom, the next you're in clinicals. they're done at various LI hospitals, and some nursing homes, LTCs. i don't believe that taking an LPN course outside of community college is a disadvantage, but an advantage. some schools will allow you to challenge the fundamentals semester so that you can continue where you left off so to speak. as far as job placements go, once again i'm not sure.

that's all i know about VEEB. i attend nassau community college pursing my RN. i hope my knowledge eases some of your anxiety! congrats again! and good luck! :yelclap:

Yeah that's the Veeb. There is only one. Thanks so much nursiemellie.

Thank You so much Nursiemellie, your post has helped a lot. I've been having mini anxiety attacks every other day since I received my acceptance letter! I'm Excited, Nervous, & Scared all at once. LOL

It's been 10 years since i've been in any form of school setting, so some days i wonder if i'll even be able to get back in the groove. I'm also somewhat a new mother of twins (2yrs) and I'm JUST now getting a handle on the whole time management aspect of parenting a set of toddlers, so I also question whether i'll be able to successfully juggle being a Mommy, Student & Wife all at once. I'm sure i'll be fine though. I just have to keep my eye on the prize.

Thanks Again!

Akanini....

Looks like we have our work cut out for us! Conrats on getting in! See you at orientation!:wink2:
