U.S.A. New York

I just got accepted into U of R's accelerated bachelors nursing program. Just wanted to start a thread to see who else is going there!

Hello all,

I was just wondering if anyone had been accepted into the abpnn program for May 2012, or do they wait till after the Nov 1st deadline to start accepting people? I'm wondering if i should still apply for it of apply for the fall2012. Any insight will help thanks.

I had my interview last week...they told me they would not be sending out decision letters until january for the may 2012 start. Good luck!! :)

Thanks!

I hope it goes just as smoothly for me as it sounds like you interview did.

If I could pry a bit. What do you think allowed you to stand out as a candidate and eventually get an acceptance?

Umm...honestly not too sure. LOL. My gpa for undergrad is NOT outstanding, but it was above a 3.0. Although I do have a high gpa for my pre-requisites. I also have a Master's degree...and have been working in a hospital for the past yr. So maybe a combo of everything?? haha

I'm sure your process will go great!! :)

EEK! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Good luck too!!! :)

Does anyone know, usually how long does it take to get the first job for someone who will graduate from University of Rochester with ABPNN in 1 year. I am asking because I've had few people tell me they cannot find jobs after becoming a nurse and now they are in debt. How much per hourly can we expect to make for someone who is fresh graduate from University of Rochester with ABPNN degree.

Are these people UofR graduates? I'm not sure how many get jobs but I think their placement is better than average. Salary is around $25 / hour for the hospitals in the Rochester area. Like with all programs, there is no guarantee of employment at the end, although there is a guarantee of the tuition charged. Keep on the asking the right questions and consider wisely as the tuition is astronomically high.

Thank you for answering my question. Ya you're right, the tuition fees are high; but as long as we get a job with $25/hr or more, We should be ok. The reason why I was asking because we are spending about 60k+ for 1 year.

I am on the waitlist for the January 2012 cohort. Does anyone know when they might start pulling names off the waitlist? Any information would be helpful. Thank you.

Ukes425,

2012perhaps stated on October 14th that s/he was accepted off the waitlist for January 2012.

PS - Good Luck!

Here's a question for any current students out there. Has anyone purchased older editions of the textbooks? If so, how different are the editions? It's a lot cheaper to buy the older editions, but I don't want to be at a disadvantage if there are significant changes to the text ...
