Hi washerdryer, I'm a downstate student in the accelerated program now. I'd be happy to talk to you about the program. New to all nurses, but I think they have a way to private message or to view my email.

Hey abirdewell83 - I'm also a newly admitted Downstater, do you mind if I piggyback on that request and ask you a few things? Any advice you have would be greatly appreciated.

Question for former Downstate students: I looked up Downstate's NCLEX pass rate for 2012: 100%, which is excellent NYS Nursing:Nursing Programs:RN NCLEX Results: 2008-2012! BUT, they are listed as having 38 test-takers for the program, which is a little alarming since the incoming class is generally between 50-60 people (or so I think?). Was there a massive attrition of students? Did some opt not to take the NCLEX with their class? Just wondering since that is a bit alarming.

Thanks!

The incoming class for 2012 was 40 and one person dropped out (not sure what happened to the 39th person).

The usual size of the incoming class is 40. I know this because I spoke to a 2012 graduate.

Ah, gotcha. I was worried at first because that would be a very alarming drop out rate for such a small class! This puts my mind at ease--thanks!

Hi - what was the cost of the accelerated program?

thanks

Hi-

I recently was accepted to the SUNY Downstate accelerated BSN program (woo!). I'm going to accept, and was just wondering if any current students or recent graduates are reading this board and would be willing to talk with/meet with me about the program, just so I can get some more info about it, your experiences in it, or anything like that, and get a head start on anything I can take care of now (e.g., buying books, uniform, I don't know what else).
