Summer Externships 2013

Hello All,I am very new to this website and it really warms my heart to see everyone helping and consoling each other.I am a junior nursing student and I am interested in doing an externship over the summer. I know there are a few posts about this but a lot of them are from years ago and I wanted some more current advice. My dream is to be in the NSLIJ-Healthcare system so I would love to get an externship with them or NY Presbyterian is a close second.I hate to bother you all with the same things again but could anybody offer up any advice as to how to go about the process of applying, where/when they applied (I'm from Queens so to hear from people who applied to or did the NSLIJ externship or NY Presbyterian would be awesome but all advice is welcomed! haha), what you got out of the experience, how was your interview, etc. I would really love and appreciate the feedback. Thanks!

Yea it was just an event I guess for us to be aware that the posting was going to go up but it says it will go up the first week of march so i guess just check the website everyday to be safe.

Hey there! I too have been keeping a close eye on Jewish/Lenox Hill and NYP. I finished my junior year last semester and will be graduating this December with my BSN (non-RN)!! I saw the event as well but I didn't find where we can apply on NYP. I'm coming in from the San Francisco Bay Area of California. I'm also waiting on Long Island Jewish... sigh no Word yet... please let us know if anyone has Heard Word, I'll be on the look out too.

Wow California! Thats some distance lol but yea i spoke to a recruiter today about the application for NSLIJ and she said that the application will go up sometime this month and to just keep checking the website. I wish they would just give a conrete answer so that I can stop being so anxious about it

Since this thread is pertaining to the NY areas, I might as well ask my other questions. Has anyone heard from/of externships/internships for Beth Israel or Richmond University Medical Center?

Thanks so much for that link! I didn't know Winthrop had an externship program.

Beth Israel used to have information up on the website about externships but I heard they are not having it this year so i don't know for sure what is going on with that. As far as Richmond University Medical Center goes, I don't know too much about it really. Did you check their website?

I did. I checked their website for RUMC and they had a nurse extern program, but when I checked today, the page was "gone/missing", and I was wondering if anyone might know if they'll have it or not. My guess is no but I thought I'd try. Thanks for the heads up on Beth Israel.

Does anyone know if the VA in Brooklyn is having their VALOR internship out? I'm looking for the Hudson Valley and Northport as well.

Im not a 100% sure but some places ive noticed have their info up and when it comes close to when they are going to post the application they take it down but dont quote..it could be maybe because the deadline passed too..idk maybe try giving them a call and see what they say

Yea someone else posted this posting as well thanks for this. Maybe try using a different email address. Some people I knew had problems with it and just used a different email and then it worked.

For the NYP externship, has anyone seen a spot to upload transcripts or letters of recommendation or know if NYP wants them? Thanks
