Student at Megdar Evers applying for fall 2014 nursing

U.S.A. New York

Hi everyone..Happy Holidays!! I am currently a student at MEC, and survivor of the fall semester::whew:: I put in my application for the fall 2014 nursing program, but I am a little worried because of my grades for the science courses. I got an A+ in Chem 105 lecture A- in Chem 105 Lab, and a B in A&P1:(. I know its really competitive to get into MEC nursing program, and I was wondering if anybody could give me a little insight on their experience at Medgar Evers or any other school..did I ruin my chances of getting accepted into this program...I heard they only look at 3.3 or better and I think that B messed me up:woot:.. Should I look into other schools as well? I'm open to any advice I can get..thanks guys

Hi, Happy Holidays to you as we'll. I'm a former student that did ALL my NURS pre-reqs @MEC. I believe you have a really good shot based on your grades...I think what really holds the weight of yay or nay is your NLN score. Try your very best on that. Good luck to you.

Good luck on the application process! We all need it especially at MEC!

Thanks!!I got the NLN PAX review book today... I'm going to start studying asap:nailbiting: which school you go to now, and why did you leave MEC? Happy New Year!!

thanks I appreciate it... do you go to MEC 2??

HaPPy New Year! Nope I'm now @Montefiore SON (formerly Dorothea Hopfer SON). I start in Jan by the grace of God.

This semester, just finished my last class-Pathophysiology Bio 323 @MEC. Honestly MEC was too much of a run around for me, just like the entire CUNY system in my opinion. I wanted the go the outside/private route. Figured my chances would be MUCH BETTER! No waiting list etc...

Think you still got a fair shot at the program. Just make sure you score high on the NLN! Preferably 120+, but I believe anything above 100 will we considered (well...at least for last year)

Hey guys,i haven't been on here for a while I've been studying for the NLN..which i took today..I got a 113 not really sure where I stand..any thoughts? but I'll be keeping my fingers crossed and think positive,.. Are any of you guys familiar with MEC's application process, like around how long does it take for them to start sending letters etc.. MoyBien are you in mec's nursing program? MrsCombo, are you in the program at Montefiore? hows that going (if you are)

Good luck :up: ;) @eshabsha did you get in? im also attending MEC. Im considering on :down: taking a&p 1 first summer course and chemistry 2nd summer course?? Is it a good idea or no? Would i be rushing? Plus, i never took chem before in h.s. But i took/love bio! Would love to hear your opinions. Thanks

@eshabsha

yeah, currently in my 2nd semester. 113 isn't bad. What's your GPA looking like? Did you go through the interview process yet? If I recall correctly, we were all interviewed in the auditorium. Those who were accepted officially were mailed a letter sometime in May. Best of luck!

Applied for the Fall AAS/RN program and got the letter for the interview today. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Me too, I'm surprised to see so little activity for Medgar Evers on this site. Nice to know someone else goes here too :woot:. Good luck on your interview!!

Can you provide more info about the interview? Is it one on one or a group interview? Also was the math and essay section challenging or pretty much what we saw on the pre-nln? I heard that if you get interviewed you stand a pretty good chance of being excepted.

How do you like the nursing program so far?
