I have the an opportunity to get my Bsn in nursing, but I do not have a Rn. Should I get into the nursing field first.

Specializes in Nursing Professional Development.

There is no need or advantage to getting a Diploma or ADN first except that for some people, it is cheaper to get those degrees first and then have your employer help pay for the BSN.

Every year, thousands and thousands or people start their nursing careers with their BSN as their first degree. If it is a financially viable route for you, then there is no reason not to do it.

You may even find that starting with your BSN gives you more varied job options as a new grad. More and more hospitals are preferring to hire new grad BSN's than new grads without that degree.

You better jump on that!
