U.S.A. New York

Can we make this the official thread for The Stony Brook Accelerated Nursing Class of 2016. Let's start posting questions and suggestions here.

curious though.... do we have to send in our official transcript even if we were wait listed? or we only send it in if we do get accepted?

How did u find out if you got waitlisted?

I received an email. You can also check your solar account to see if a decision has been made.

Ya I havent gotten an email what so ever, I am doing this solar account now though.

Got alternative listed...ya I would like to know how likely are alternates put on?

Hey guys. I'm currently in the first year of the 2-year program...I had applied to both the Accelerated and 2-year. Interviewed for both programs, rejected from 1 year and waitlisted for the 2 year. I did not receive word that I had been accepted until 2 DAYS PRIOR to orientation! (Called on a Tuesday, with orientation starting that Thursday!) People DO get called off of the Alternate List, so try to stay positive. I would stay in contact with the school of nursing, and be sure to send them transcripts if you have any outstanding pre-reqs on your application. It can only help. Best of luck guys!

Thank you. Tbell I had a question how did you find boarding in such short period of time? You have like less then a week to find a place

Congrats everyone who got accepted! I did too, and I'm wondering if anyone from previous semesters has a recommendation for living on campus vs commuting. Is living at SBU worth the money, or should I stay home and drive out for classes/clinicals. Thanks!

@Nurse0287 The university sets aside a number spaces in the undergraduate on-campus (West Apartments) apartments for nursing students. Because this is their policy, and by the time I had requested housing (naturally) all of the spaces in West had been filled, I reached out to one of the higher-ups in the Campus Residences office, and was able to secure a spot in one of the dorms on campus.

Does anyone know approximately how many people they put on the alternate list for the accelerated program?

Please let me know if anybody from the alternate list is told of acceptance, I did the math it looks like theres been around 60 people commited to the program on facebook. So my guess is there are 10-15 spots available. They will not say what ranking we all are though.

I think its possible that some people just may not have joined facebook though. But its definitely possible there are some space left. Good luck to everyone =)
