Hello All,

I was wondering if anyone was applying to SPSON for the fall 2014. I went to their open house and took the entrance exam. I will be submitting my application soon then taking the hesci exam. I was curious to know if there was anyone out here doing the same ?

Hey all. I'm supposed to be going to see the Queens campus on Wednesday. I was trying to enroll in the classes beginning in January 2015. Does anyone know how long the enrollment process takes

Hey all. I'm supposed to be going to see the Queens campus on Wednesday. I was trying to enroll in the classes beginning in January 2015. Does anyone know how long the enrollment process takes

It varies, you have to go to the open house, pay app fee and test, than meet with dean, and wait to hear back, when I enrolled it took almost 2.5 months to be turned down :( good luck!

Has anyone applied to the January 2015 classes? Do you know what time the night classes are?

I just did my interview with the president and it went well. I showed him a portfolio of my past volunteer work in hospitals and he was very impressed. I passed the hesi with an 85. The book is very helpful. You need an 80 in each subject. Tip if you have experiences volunteering or have a portfolio with awards associated with the medical field that'll be a big bonus because the president of the campus (the interviewer) will know you have experience. If not it's ok just be yourself. I'm waiting on my acceptance letter which hopefully won't take long

Hey did you end up getting accepted?

Hey jholder948

That sounds pretty cool. I'm scheduled to take the hesi on the 23. Did you get accepted yet?

Hey and yes I did get accepted. I got a call from them. I did the interview in February I got a call from them in the end of March

Congrats. I'm a little nervous b/c I really hope I get in for August 2015. What semester are you attending, May or August?

I'm doing may. I take only two classes then which is anatomy 1 and fundamentals of Nursing or something. I was going to do August but my parents thought that's far but may is fine. It's only two classes. And don't be nervous they'll accept you. What did you get on the hesi test? Right now I'm getting all my medical forms done and stuff. But you'll be ok I know they'll accept you. But most likely you'll get a call.

I'm scheduled to take the exam in two weeks on the 23. I'm studying the book now. Plan to study for at least an hour and a half daily because I want a high score. I'm think I'm more nervous because I know that I will have to meet w. The president after I passed the hesi. I read in forums that he wants the ppl he think is best fit for the program.

Besides volunteer work, did you work I'm a healthcare facility as a Lpn or cna?

The president is a nice guy very nice guy. He'll just ask you who you are as a person what's your favorite food etc just to know you. He'll ask what made you want to become a nurse. He's a laid back guy hell make you feel comfortable. Be yourself. If you never had experience in the hospital or medical field if he asks you be honest. He's not looking for someone who's born into wanting to be a nurse or who eats and sleeps nursing. Be polite always say yes sir or yes Doctor since he is a doctor. He'll be impressed if you shake his hand towards the end and beginning of the interview. He's not I repeat NOT a strict guy he's funny but he'll see you have discipline and respect if you say yes sir and thank you doctor. I did that.

If you have ever volunteered in anything like you got a certificate or something bring it. Doesn't have to be medical. Helping kids soup kitchens anything make a portfolio and bring it. If you don't don't stress!! It's ok. Dress clean. I suggest a blazer and pants. And come on time. My interview was at 11 I came literally an hr early only cause I take three buses there. It'll be ok. When studying for the HESI study on your weak subject first! On the test you get to choose what subject you want to do first. Do the weakest one first and get it out of the way cause your strongest ones will be a breeze. Keep doing your study techniques you'll be fine. It's easy as hell! Math was my wea and I was surprised I did good.

And no I work in retail part time. I only volunteered in hospitals and summer camps

You just made me feel 100% better lol. I'm happy he's a pretty cool president. & thanks for the heads up because I never knew he was a doctor, but I will defiantly talk to him with respect.

So you basically mean dressing professionals. & how long was the interview?

The math isn't bad. I need to focus on the vocabulary. Some of these words, have me scratching my head. I think I would do that first. & do we fiind out our scores from the hesi the same day we take them ?
