Pediatric Nursing in NYC?

U.S.A. New York

So, my SO just graduated with a math degree and is applying for actuarial jobs in New York. We live in Texas so we would be relocating if he were to get hired up there, and I was wondering how hard it is to get hired at a pediatric hospital in NYC.

I have a BSN, 3 years experience in pedi hematology/oncology and and have my CPN and APHON chemo certification. Ideally, I would like to stick with pedi H/O but am open to working almost anything pedi just so I wouldn't have to work adults.

Suggestions? Thoughts? I haven't started applying anywhere yet until we know if he gets a job.

From many threads I have been reading it is really hard for new grads to find jobs in NYC. You have experience so you might have a better chance. Most nurses have been taking jobs upstate or in other states. Maybe you should look to surrounding counties near NYC(Westchester,Putnam,Rockland, etc) and the other states in the area (NJ,CT,PA)

I actually relocated from Texas to NYC in February and had a couple job offers (NICU/PICU). PM me if you have specific questions! :)

Thanks for the response! He hasn't received any offers yet, but I'm keeping my eye out on the job market up there! I'll definitely PM you with more questions if he gets some interviews! I'm glad to know you were able to get some offers- it gives me hope :)
