PACE CDP 2014 Admissions

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hi everyone!

I have been following past threads on PACE CDP 2010- 2013. I will be applying to the program for Spring 2014. I wanted to start this thread for everyone who will be applying for this upcoming cycle!

I would love for us to share our experiences as we commence our application process/ support group ( >___

For those who are already in the program, I would truly appreciate if you guys can share your experiences and credentials.

A little background on me:

I have a Psychology B.S. with an undergrad GPA of 3.8. I have been working as a paralegal at a law firm for the last two years and after doing a good amount of soul searching and re evaluating what I want to do in life and where I'm now, I know for a fact I want to become a nurse and eventually a NP. I have so much appreciation for the unsung heroes in the hospitals, clinics, and other practices. Thus, I will do whatever I can and work as hard as I can to become one.

I will be completing my remaing pre- reqs by this summer: A&P1 and 2, and Microbiology.

Good luck to everyone! Please share!

:)

PACE is my number one choice as of now.

Hey SimplyBliss,

I will be applying for the Spring 2014 cycle as well. I have 2 pre-Reqs to finish this summer: A&P II and Microbio. I'm applying for the 2 year program, that way I can still work part time. I majored in Chemistry and finished with a 3.4 GPA. I've been working in a hospital for 5 years now...

Hey Sars424!

I'm glad to find someone on the same boat as I'm! It sounds like you have plenty of health field experience which is great. :)

I'm a little worried of my lack of health experience. I emailed PACE Admissions to get their opinion on the importance of health field experience and for those who also wonder, this is the exact copy and paste they wrote back to me:

"Our average GPA is a 3.3. This program is designed for students who do not have a health or medical background like yourself. A student with a health/medical background is not given preference over another student without such a background."

In the email, I gave a small introduction about myself because I wanted to know where people like me who come from business, law, finance, English majors, etc. would fall. Based on the email, it sounds reassuring but HEY... health care, volunteer experience is still a major booster I presume.

Either way, I think having some volunteer experience can't hurt.

I also read and made calls to other schools to get a feel of what is more heavily weighted for an admission decision to be made. I called PACE just in case, and the woman on the phone said that your undergraduate GPA and Pre-Science GPA are major determining factors and serves as a starting basis.

I will be starting my remaining science pre-reqs next week...Crossing my fingers!!

Please continue to share guys!!!

Yep I applied. Now for the wait. Hopefully we all get in!! Would be great to hear from recent graduates of the program and what their experiences were with clinical etc

hey, people........i applied for the cdp spring 2014, and will go for my interview on monday, sept 30th. it seems that a first round of interview was held on sept 16 th (about 34 people) . Has semeone else received an invitation for monday, or has already been interviewed? what kind of question do they ask?............good luck

Interviewed on sept 30. Got a mail today saying I am accepted for the program.Did somebody else receive a mail ?

hey i also got accepted(receved the email on tuesday).....congrats!!!

Wow congrats to you too..Should gather others and create a face book group or something.. How do you plan to prepare for the program ?

I too have been accepted into the spring CDP 2014. I have been accepted to a few other programs and am currently trying to decide which one is right for me. I would love to attend Pace this January, I am just a little concerned about the 77% rule. I am a little hesitant after reading so many negative comments about this program and how many people have been kicked out. What are your thoughts?

Even I read some negative reviews.I feel the program is doable, shared the same concern with one of the pace graduate counselor's and according to him there was some issues going on couple of years back which has been rectified already.Pace was my one choice and thank God, I got accepted.

Hello everyone!

Congrats to all who were accepted!

I applied to Pace too and I just got an interview later this month. For those who went to the interview, would you mind sharing how the format of the interview was? For example, group versus one-on-one. How long was the interview? and how was your personal experience?

Pace is my second choice and I live in the city.

Also for those who were accepted, would you mind sharing your stats (GPA, major, experience)?

Thanks a bunch and congrats again to all!

Do you know of any other students that are attending this January? Also, where are you living? I'm trying to prepare for everything before January and I can't help but be a little stressed about the program starting so soon. It would help if a facebook group or other means of communication was available.
