Specializes in Neonatal ICU (Cardiothoracic).

Hi, I'm a NJ transplant currently gaining experience at a Level III NICU in SC. I plan on coming back to the NYC area in 11/2 years. Any input on NYP, Mt Sinai, or Morgan Stanley Children's hospitals NICU's would be awesome. I am interested in details on:

1. Nurse/pt ratios, acuity

2. educational advancement opportunities/programs

3. interaction/collaboration with MD's/NNP's

4. ECMO, surgical pts, iNO, HFOV.....are they used?

5. any info on other NICU's in Manhattan would be helpful.

THanks!

Come on you experienced NYC NICU nurses!!!

Come on you experienced NYC NICU nurses!!!

I'd love to know too. I'm graduating this spring and hoping for a NICU job...

Oh, I floated to CHONY (Children's Hospital of New York, formerly Babies Hospital) NICU for a day during my peds rotation and it was v clean, well-staffed, and seemed to have an excellent orientation program. And the charge nurse was very nice. I've heard good things about Cornell (New York Hospital) and NYU from people who work there, but not a whole lot in the way of specifics.
